If you want a really reliable diesel you can't beat the Peugeot/Citroen 2.0. 8 valve Hdi engine made until about 04 - they are practically bombproof and very economical.

A question was asked in 'Ask HJ' about whether using Shell v-power nitro diesel was likely to cause engine damage. HJ answered: "all sorts of other problems could occur with this engine. Look it up in car by car". Where is car-by-car? Read more

However, I can't see in the link you gave me where it tells me if this fuel is good or bad for my particular car.

Any Fuel on sale in the uk today from a site that is selling high volumes is safe to use. Any fuel on sale with higher specifications might help with fuel economy/wear issuesn etc....

The section 'Ask HJ' shows lots of questions that have been asked but I can't see how to ask a question of my own. Do I have to submit it on the Back Room? Read more

GT

Many thanks. It's obvious now I know how ;-)

Follow-up question: if I have a question, should I 'Ask HJ' or post it on the Back Room Forum (or both?).

@pd - Agree It's the VIN & Reg that are important.

Buy from a dealer and reduce the risk and gain the Sale of Goods Act....

My fiesta won't start unless you prime it or it's really cold outside. No leaks changed primer bulb and associated pipes, air and fuel filters had injectors checked for leaks and pressure but they were fine.after all this it still needs primed to start and u can still see air bubbles.Any ideas welcome as this has been going on for weeks and I've left it with the mechanic for now as it's driving me crazy. I'm trying to get another take on something that happened after my daughter traded in a car at a VW garage.

She had a drive in a demonstrater and agreed to buy. The car, as I said was a demonstrator and had approx 7800miles on the clock. The trade in was a 10year old Focus with approx 55k on the clock. The agreement was that she would collect the VW just over a week later, 8days in fact. ... Read more

Thank you for all your replies.

It is most probable that the car has been used as a courtesy car. Someone's CD was left in the player~not many demonstration runs involve a musical background!...

New to this site I would really appreciate some advice if possible. Basically I have had a lot of problems with this used car since I bought it but it's now heading to court..on the way to taking my car to the dealer to have the dodgy lights looked at the timing belt failed and the dealer won't pay to have it fixed as the timing belt is a seviceable item?what does this mean?the car was sold to me with the description of being serviced at 90,000 miles which I have never had proof of..and the timing belt life is 100,000 miles I don't know where I would get with going to court maybe my money back for the car not being sold as described but then having to pay for repairs needed for timing belt failure?the car was taking to the dealer under within a 3 month warranty..do I get the repairs done myself as I won't get anywhere with the timing belt situation or do I take it to court??help!! Hi there..thanks for pointing out those things.

I bought the car on November 1st last year for £2000 and it is an 07 plate. I had done roughly 1300 miles in the ten weeks i had the the car before it completely broke down and most of those miles were going back and for to the car dealer for numerous other problems.

I was recently interested in a car. Before going to see I decided to check warranty on offer.

Reference was made to being available up to 24 months costs varying as to cover, time etc. No mention was made of dealer warranty.... Read more

Thanks.

Its because I was taken advantage of a few occasions that I became cautious. I found the HJ site and my knowledge has increased significantly. There are a few 'prawns' on the forum but far outweighed by the others.
