Every so often turning the key brings on the ignition lights but nothing else happens. Repeated turns and waiting a while doesn't work. Getting out and giving the car a shove in gear, then trying the key again does work. Every time. The car is under warranty, but all Kia are willing to do is take it in for a few days and try to get the fault to occur while plugged in to their diagnostic stuff. Two goes at this have failed and they are proposing a third. Isn't a definition of madness doing the same thing and expecting a different result? Yes, it is intermittent (aka won't happen at the garage), but I have described the fault and workaround clearly and even twice videoed occurrences of the fault and shove-in-gear fix for them. Doesn't that point to a cause or some part to be removed and examined? Why won't they take my word for it? Each time it goes in I have to take time off to deliver and collect, and pay for insurance on a courtesy car. How can we break this cycle? Pushing a car in the rain to make it start is no fun! I've owned my 2013 Rapid (Hatchback) 1.2 TSi (105 BHP) Elegance for almost 2 years. It has covered just under 20K miles in this time and has undergone 1 (minor) service. It has averaged 39 mpg overall, with a best of 46 mpg and worst of 34 mpg.
I replaced virtually all the bulbs with LED's, and the dipped beam headlight bulbs with Osram Nightbreaker's. The dipped beam headlights are poor, but the Osram's led to a marked improvement. They don't last long (~9 months), but I considered the improved illumination to be worth the £15 / set.... Read more
Very good synopsis of your vehicle. I have owned a 2005 Superb 1 from new. The 1.9tdi 130pd is an excellent engine, though now defunct. At 200k it is still going strong with just about original everything. I have looked after it and used it daily so it is quite fit for it's age. Looking to replace when an uneconomical repair is needed or when we buy our caravan. Then, the first place I will visit is the Skoda dealer to look at an Octavia or Yeti. If the car is still in working condition when the time comes I intend to give it away free to a good home. I hope I can find one though. The last time I tried this with our Honda Accord 2.0i, 17 years old, 175K and sweet as a nut, just no longer viable with SWMBO doing 600 miles a year!!! However nobody wanted it, even for free with an MOT FSH etc etc. Crazy eh. The local kids turned their noses up. Not cool enough, even for free. Hey Ho.

Has anyone had a problem with Stepway warning lights. Our NEW stepway with less than 300 miles on the clock has now given us the ABS and Esc warning lights twice. Each time the car will not start unless we leave it circa 30 minutes. Garage checked it once but problem still with us !

It's a standard GLE, Amg-Line, 250d in Obsidian black. I was going to go for the 'black pack and pan roof with 3D pack,' but the car may of then taken up to 12/14 weeks. This one as standard was order and getting in about 9/10 weeks.
Recently, there are 'ex-demo' cars om mB sites but they can't sell for 3 months on the 16 plate and these demo cars usally come with a mileage of 3 to 5k and from what I have seen, most people that are given the car for a few hours or days trash the cars. IMO. it is important to drive the car carefully for the first 800 to 1k miles to let engine and brakes/discs settle in. As I aniticpate to keep the car for about 4/5 yrs I thought this was imortant....

If the car is under warranty you shouldn't be paying the insurance on the courtesy car, the dealer should be covering that.
My Hyundai (same group) Santa Fe developed immobiliser problems which gradually changed from occasionally, through intermittent to terminal - the dealer had the car many times, repositioning the immobiliser aerial, replacing it and finally replacing the immobiliser unit on the engine - it happened again a couple of years later but I had to remind the after-sales manager what the eventual fix was as they were going to start again....
