We have just HPI checked three vehicles we have been looking at. They are all advertised as having one previous owner.

I think that's right. I doubt HPI updates fast enough to know that the previous owner has sold to a dealer.
I'm sure there was a thread on here where dealers were advertising two owner cars as "one former keeper" because that was what it said on the V5...
I was reading an Honest John answer to a query about air con smell; he said that some cars are worse than others.
I have only owned two cars: 1, A 2000 reg Polo. 2, A 2007 used Prius. The former had no air con and thus gave me no such smell for 10 years of use. However I bought the Prius from a Toyota dealer last year and they bought it back from me 9 months later because they could not get rid of the smell. They had it cleaned out multiple times and it did reduce the smell but the mould and bacteria remained in the system. I got it tested by a mould expert who said that the levels were near dangerous. I did read somewhere that it was a good idea to run the aircon with the heater in the hot position for some time to dry out the ducting and kill germs.
I use the aircon all the time, winter or summer. Aircon is great to demist screens on a cold winters morning.

Would agree with that. Really, unless you told the garage it wasn't taxed it would be unfair to blame them for it.
You can drive any car you want on trade plates btw as long as it is for legitimate reasons - doesn't have to be owned by you or on your books. You can't pop to Tescos in it though. :)
Hi, some git has drilled into the rubber seal under the fuel filler pipe. Does anyone know how much it will cost to put right? If I can still put fuel in until it is sorted? Is it safe to drive? There is no apparent leak other than what I have cleaned from the bodywork after the thieves had finished. I reckon that they only got a few litres judging by how many miles to empty it went down. I currently own a 5yr old diesel Mondeo. I am considering buying a new car as I only do about 8 miles a day (to and from work with stop offs at nursery and childminders) I was considering buying a petrol Civic.
