all I can tell you is , that i had clutch judder when pulling away . this knocked the clutch bearing out of the fly wheel .
ater purchasing a new bearing we found that the clearance between shaft and bearing is .42mm on diameters....
a bit like the Citroen DS4, Rover Streetwise Etc Etc.

More imported, most likely Chinese tools, what a pity almost all our own manufacturers have gone or off shored manufacture, we do still have King Dick who make some tools here, but no one else really. Read more
On the emissions part of the mot I know they have to rev the car to maximum governed speed a few times for the smoke test I was curious to see on my car how much smoke was present when this was done.
But my car will only rev to 2500 rpm in neutral. How would this apply to the mot? Can the tester over ride this setting? Read more
The test is carried out with an engine speed of 2500 rpm, or half the maximum engine speed if this is lower.
Sorry, this is only for vechicles first used before 1st August 1979....
Just fitted new alternator - all went ok. Noticed top of power steering reservoir had some oil on it - not much, but didn't pay too much attention to that as level was ok, so put all the belts on, started up and power steering pump noisy and reservoir overflowing and frothy (air in system). Switched off after a minute or two. Thought I may have the power steering belt on too tight so slackened off, but problem persisted. Read that o-ring between reservoir and pump should be updated and replaced with orange one and can fix problem. Otherwise recon pump? - anyone had same issue and know a good place near SW London? Any tips on flushing too? Read more
Well, the problem seemed to have ironed itself out. There must have been an airlock somewhere. Very strange because no leaks. I'll be keeping a close eye on it over the next few weeks, but all I can advise is when moving the power steering pump out of the way to gain access, try to move it as little as possible. Also if your reservoir does overflow with air bubbles, try overfilling it to help with the bleeding. If that fails, consider chaging the o ring between reservoir and pump.
Hi all,
Well after long last we have finally sold the wife's BMW E46 and now she is in the market for a new (second hand) car.
With a budget of £2250 MAX we think we have found the ideal car.
She would like to have a MK2 Focus. As she does very few miles per year, and 80% of them being town miles, a Diesel was the worst thing she could get and I have convinced her the Petrol is the way forward. So she has agreed and is looking at the Petrol ones.
My shout is the 1.8 Duratec engine as this is Chain Driven (i think anyway) while the 1.6 is the Zetec engine and is belt driven. I also think the extra power in the 1.8 will make the occasional Motorway journey bearable too.
Am I correct with the duratec being chain driven, and is there anything I should be looking out for specifically apart from the obvious?
A HPI check on our car of choice, along with a DVLA MOT History Check are all showing the makings of a straight and true car, but any potential pitfalls before parting with the hard earned would be most beneficial to know about. Read more
Hi am hoping some one can help with my radio code after battery went flat can no longer use radio serial code v126774.thank u Read more
Main dealer or glee- bay for codes starting with a V.
I've had an intermittent starting fault for a few weeks now.
The history:
1 month ago started fine, went to work, parked up for a few hours, went back to car, wouldn't start. AA managed to bump start it out of the multi story car a park then diagnosed battery required replacing. Replaced battery same day, all seemed fine for a further 2 weeks. Then similar thing, car was parked up for a couple of hours, then wouldn't start. AA checked battery, all good there, eventually got it started by applying pressure to the fuel pump feed plug under the rear seats. Diagnosed possible loose connection or damaged connection. Another 2 weeks have gone by, car starting fine, then yesterday parked up for 30 mins, car wouldn't start. Fidled with fuel pump feed plug, no joy eventually managed to bump start it. Got home, 2 hrs later, won't start.
So, is it the fuel pump? Fuel pump connector or something else? If it's the connector can just the connector be repaired/replaced or is it a whole new fuel pump? And can it be easily done or does it require a mechanic?
Obviously it's an old car so don't really want to be spending a lot of money on it if I can help it.
All help & advice greatly appreciated. Read more
It could be the connector onto the pump that causes this problem.Seen it many times. It is repairable with new pins ,but access requires the fuel tank to be dropped down. There is no way in under the back seat.
