Hi everyone.

I have a fiesta 1.4tdci MY07.
Have changed the injector seals (all 4). Since then the turbo will not boost. I have checked the turbo itself and I is fine. Had a mighty vac on the waste gate and that's working fine too. All the vacuum pipes and intake pipes are fine. The four inlet manifold seals are in a good clean condition and located correctly. There are no fault codes. All the injectors have gone back in the same order they came out and it's running fine... Just won't boost. Please help if you can. Thanks.

The top one is the fuel tank vent valve and the lower part is the evap canister purge valve. These are part of the emission system.Neither of which if faulty will cause the engine to not run.

i have a 2009 citroen c3 with a 1.1 engine recently when starting the car first thing it would revv upto about 2500 - 3000 rpm and then drop down also the heater was blowing cold, i have had it on a modis scanner and it says the rpm is at 2000+ even when its dropped back to idle, and the oil and coolant temp is constantly at -40 degrees so i changed the coolant temp sensor and this has made no differace any help would be apperciated

thanks mike Read more

The low coolant temperatures and the cold heater would suggest that the thermostat has failed.

My car was recently repaired by a VW approved body shop; a small bubble on OSR wheel arch rim had appeared. My independent shop assessed this at £285.

On collecting my car, I found widespread scratches from careless washing (despite a card in the car forbidding washing it), paint of the wrong colour, ridges in the lacquer, 6" scratches on the newly painted panel, abrasion damage on the roof, chips down to primer on roof, overspray to window, polishing compound ingrained in window surround & roof aerial.

My local bodyshop now quotes £945 to rectify all. VW want to send the car back to their body shop to rectify this horror show, but I have no faith in their quality control or standard of work. I'd prefer to get my body shop to do the work & seek redress from the VW approved one. Is this reasonable? Or am I compelled to submit my pride and joy to this dubious shop again?

Thanks for the reply. When you say that you'd doubt that I'd win, what makes you say that?

VW have already agreed to look at the repair again. It would be your decision to take it elsewhere without giving them the oportunity to correct it. If they had refused and you could prove the work was substandard (independant report) you would be in a better position to win any claim.

We have a Vauxhall Corsa petrol 1.0 2007 model. The engine warning light keeps coming on. It has been back to the garage three times. Each time they plug in the diagnostic and run an emissions test but can find nothing wrong. Immediately after the garage visit, the light is extinguished but then after 5 miles it comes back on again and stays on persistently, despite there being no apparent problem with the car. Is it simply the sensor at fault and can it be ignored? The garage told us that there may be sensitivity to supermarket petrol which has lower additives. Is this true? Read more

I had the same problem with a Corsa but when I stopped and turned off the engine then started up again, everything was fine. This happened for a few weeks but when I serviced the car the light never came back on again....strange I know but true

But will it be a true auto-box - fluid flywheel, or merely a manual box with electronic control?

From two weeks after taking delivery of my secondhand Fiesta automatic there were "clunking" noises coming from the engine compartment at slow speeds (10-20mph) from a cold start. Seven visits to my local Ford Dealer and examination by Ford Technical and software updates have not identified or solved the problems. I get the feeling that Ford knows of these issues with its Powershift dual clutch mechanism (not only in UK) but is unwilling to acknowledge let alone resolve the problem. At least VAG had the "good grace" (eventually) to extend warrantees and change type of oil with its DSG complaints. Anyone else with similar problems? Any solutions? Read more

Ensure you write to teh dealer copy Ford Technical itemising the issues and saying you consider the car not fit for purppose. Recorded delivery.

Hi all, I'm a newbie... Just after a bit of advice.

Myself and hubbie are completely useless at mechanics... I own a lovely terrano to pull my horses.. Recently it has been draining the battery, but not everyday and doesn't make any difference if we have left it over the weekend, or whether just popped into the shops. It requires a boost charge to then start.... Read more

If the battery appears flat after a relatively short period of non use I would say it certainly needs replacing.

Every manufacturer and their dog seem to be announcing they are rushing to do an SUV, e.g. Rolls, bentley, jaguar, skoda, seat even lamborghini!

I personally find they are all starting to look alike. No doubt most will be diesel or "hybrid". ... Read more

I have just had the cam belt and clutch renewed on my 53 plated Ford Fiesta, but the chap who did the job disconnected the battery and the radio code in my handbook doesn't work. Does anyone know what the code might be. The serial no. is M031641. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
