It worked! thanks a million.
Weh ave this car mentioned above and its a 2006, it started giving us problem approximately a year after we bought it from arnold clark though its a used one, the problem started with the wheel shaking when my partner drives it at any speed, and then there is this sliding or thunder lighteing coming up on the dashboard, radio keeps going on and off could be for a day or for a few hours, fan is fluctuating as well, its on and off for some few minutes, we don't seem to understand what the problem is and the amount of fuel it consumes is extrememly high in a week we fuel up to £100.00 which i feel its too much, we have been to arnold clark and at that time we were charges for over £750 for the thunder light coming up in the dashboard but this tends to still be there.
at the moment we are not financially bouyant and this car is actually costing us a lot, we don't want to take it back to arnold clark as their charges are too high and am afraid we won't be able to pay that if we take it there, we have been advised of other garages but is there a chance of knowing what the problem could be, we are actually the third owner so far. any idea of whats happening and what it could be will be highly appreciated. thanks Read more
You're goosed if you car starts 'thundering and lightening' out of warranty although you could ask the manufacturer for a goodwill payment towards the significant repair costs
Isn't this a 2006? I'd be amazed if anything comes from Vauxhall on this.
Received a mail shot today advertising dacias on finance. The deal offered nil deposit monthly payment and final payment . All normal, but then stated that after final payment car could continue to be hired for an annual charge equivalent to one monthly payment . Is this sort of deal normal in car finance? Read more

Hi, oil light came on this evening, static orange light. Oil checked yesterday as I was doing a 60 mile trip and was in the middle of the 4 notches on the dipstick. Had car 2 years oil changes 6 monthly around 6 thousand mile. Last one done April 29th 2013. When in traffic yesterday slight smoking when pulling away after being stationary, never happened before. Never has used oil, obviously still has oil in. Cars done 83000. Just trying to clue myself up before I go to the garage, car been left at work. Cheers! Read more
Various family members have driven small, petrol engined automatic cars for going on 35 years. I have driven all these cars, but have never really paid much attention to the economy, as I have only had exclusive possession of them for a few hours at most.
This summer my family were overseas for a month and a Hyundai i20 automatic was rented. Judging by the performance, I would reckon it was the 1.4 engine. The car itself is an excellent example of how far the Korean's have come in the last 10 years, being comfortable, surprising spacious for a famiy of five, and simply doing its job well. Not the most exciting car to drive, but who cares for a rental car.... Read more

IIRC it's a silicon bead that glues them on. Try a wide chisel?
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 2006 Honda F-RV, petrol 2.0 ivtec sport. Although it has 150bhp it really struggles to accelerate with any real power.
Had it to a local garage and they've put the code reader on it and all the sensors are fine. The ECU light is not on. My father in law serviced it at the weekend so we are really stumped.
The guy at the garage is really baffled by it so any thoughts would be really appreciated.
Many thanks
Richard

Thanks for your reply.
Changed air filter & plugs.
Have a petrol filter to change but someone told me that if it was the fuel filter it would struggle more at high speeds.
Any thoughts how to check failed catalyst?
My car last year failed the mot because there was corrosion on the rear brake discs causing a band around the disc. The brake pads were replaced previously but as it failed the mot they were replaced again by the garage but again there is still a band around the disc. So if I take it back again they will fail it again. It seems they didn't do a proper job. I was told by an ex-mechanic I should file the pads down and copper slip them so they fit loosely in the calipers. I should also sand down the disc so it can bed in easily? What else could be causing the trouble? Thanks for your help. Read more
Yes, as Madf.
Also winter salt, especially if you park the car up for several days with a hefty coating of salt cooking every unpainted surface in sight, if you're going to park the car up for several daysor longer it makes sense to hose the underside and especially the brakes off before doing so.
I recently suffered a severe power reduction while motorway driving. My car was 21 months old, I'd had it from new and it had done 25000 miles. It then used a litre of oil in about 6 miles to the garage and subsequently the turbo, exhaust system and DPF had all to be replaced, fortunately under warranty as estimated cost was £6,000. The car has engine auto-stop as a default and a journey to the office is 13 miles of motorway, the off slip has lights and at red the engine usually stops when the car is stopped. Audi suggested that auto-stop was not the cause or contributory to the problem. I have my doubts and now switch it off for every journey. What are your thoughts about auto-stop on such a diesel?

This isn't generally a problem with diesels, they don't get hot enough
