Nissan Micra 1.0l - Removing Oil Sump - westburry

Hi

Grateful of some advice.....

I'm trying to remove the oil sump from an 1998 Nissan Micra 1.0l.

I've tried hitting with palm of my hand and with a hammer and a piece of wood but it still

won't budge. Is it just a matter of hitting it till the seal breaks ?

I am also thinking of trying to break the seal by hammering a screwdriver between the mating surfaces...could I ossibly damage the mating surfaces by doing this ?

I would be grateful of any advice.

Maybe a silly question but are you sure you have all the screws out? If you have it shouldnt be that difficult to remove even if its stuck on with sealant. You can try prising it apart at the edge using a fairly wide blade to spread the load, if you damage the mating surfaces, when you refit it run a bead of silicon sealant around the edge and let it set overnight bfore you refit it.

IIRC it's a silicon bead that glues them on. Try a wide chisel?
