I posted earlier this year regards black smoke on acceleration. Initially, EGR blanking plate cured the fault but it is now back. Checked the blanking plate and it is OK.

Black smoke with lack of power......Have found the air filter is blocked (although only changed 4 months ago. Have replaced with new and also done a fuel filter change for good measure. This seems to be the original one from new which was meant to get changed during a service 4 months ago!... Read more

Hi, Craigh just read your thread, having similar problems with my 03 sorento 2.5 loss of power and oil leak from corner of intercooler...ive got a 2nd hand inter cooler ready to fit and thought seeing as no one else on internet seems to have fitted one except you thought id ask if you could shine any light on fitting one...easy ? Hard? Does the whole radiator have to come out or does the intercooler split from the 4 retaining screws and bottom brackets.....?

Hi,

the cambelt is due on my Honda FRV, 1st change since new. I have spoken to dealership re this and they would just change the belt not the whole kit and water pump, which is obviously cheaper than changing the whole kit and pump. Speaking to my local garage they have advised against this even though Honda say it's only the belt that needs replacing on the 1st change, my local garage disagrees and would change kit plus water pump at a higher cost.... If the belt and tensioner are thought to be fine, why bother changing the belt?

I Have a persisitent intermittent 'gurgling' noise coming from the engine behind the steering wheel area. It sounds like a glass bottle being filled with water and when full it then 're-fills' so to speak, straight away or some minutes later. Vauxhall advised that it was due to an air lock in the coolant but bleeding didn't stop it. Then they said that it was air bubbles in the Fuel system and a replacement Fuel Filter was required, This was done but the noise continues! I've NOW been told that it's an inherent fault in, not only Zafiras, but also Astras! They also said that a fix had been developed for the Astra but not the Zafira! Does anyone have a similar noise or know anything about it<

My car has just had its 45k service although it has only done 30k. It is just over 3 yrs old and just out of warranty.

The mechanic noticed a noisy diff and diagnosed a faulty pinion which will need replacing. I am told it is not dangerous at present. At my behest, the garage (a main dealer) asked LR for a contribution and they have agreed to offer one third goodwill contribution.... Read more

Hi, My car starts first time every time but for the first couple of minutes it struggles. I found if i stay put and push the throttle a couple of times the rev counter settles back to idle speed and then the car drives fine. Any ideas? Is this something to do with the automatic choke perhaps? Suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers Read more

Durelli_tyres

I have just had a tyre repaired and when asked how much air to put in it when finished I answered 42psi as per the sticker inside drivers door for tyre pressures.

42psi is for the rear tyres when there is a load on the car, which there will be with kids, roofbox, holiday kit and bikes on for holiday.

The tyre fitter pointed out the max tyre pressure for the tyre was 44psi and so it shouldn't be be filled to 42psi as there is a chance of blow out on a long journey as the tyre heats up and pressure inside will increase.

These tyres are still the originals that came with the new car.

So is 42psi too much?
Should the tyre be rated higher?
Is 44psi unusually low for a tyre?
Anyone else come across a similar issue?

cheers
