first to ask, is Coolant Temperature Sender, EEC and Fan Sender? Or coolant temp. sender is Temperature Gauge Sender?
Because on Mondeo mk1 its separated, Temperature Gauge Sender on the bottom of thermostat house, this sender only controls the temperature gauge on the dash. Temperature guage reads OK on my mondeo.
EEC and Fan Sender is on the top of thermostat housing, it controls the EEC computer and the cooling fan. My english is not so good, so i am not sure which one is Coolant Temperature Sender, i think its EEC and Fan Sender.
On my Mondeo, EEC and Fan Sender is not connected correctly to electronics, it controls Cooling Fan, and it works correctly, but EEC dont correctly receive signals from sender thats why i have problem when is cold, RPM (revolutions per minute) is about 1500-2000, and after 15-20minutes its OK.
I found electronic diagram, but i need some explanations, i can find Soldered Joint S48 (what is S48), so i can correctly connect Coolant temoperature Sensor to electronic system. In attachment is electronic diagram.

Nice cars.. but hopeless - and I mean HOPELESS - in snow without winter tyres.

Car had stood for 3 weeks whilst waiting for snow to disappear, came to start it and it started up fine.
Left it to warm up for 5 minutes, got into drivers seat, I touched nothing and the engine died on me.... Read more
The lift pump inside the rotary injection pump isn't self priming, so if it gets air inside it will remain that way for ever & a day unless it is primed.
Pressurise the tank to get fuel flowing bubble free from the feed pipe to the injection pump then re-attach the pipe....
Hi All,
when I bought my VW Polo Bluemotion I did frequent short tips for the first few weeks and did get the DPF light several times. I have since gone on to a long commute and it's all fine now, but I may at some point move closer and am a bit worried that say 30 min trips (mainly A roads) wouldn't be enough.... Read more
If your VW won't regenerate normally search the forums for people near you who have VCDS. They will be able to use it to carry out a forced regeneration, exactly the same as the dealer does. I've done a few of them now.
I've recently bought a Chrysler Grand Voyager turbo diesel. It has an intermittent boost problem and I am hoping its the egr valve sticking. Where is the egr valve on this engine/ Any advice from anyone who can help would be gratefully received, thanks in anticipation, Bob Monkhouse. Read more
I have a Grand Cherokee 3.1 td and had the same problem. It disappeared when I changed the two temperature sensors on the engine. It has now performed flawlessly for 4000 miles. The sensor problem did not show up on a diagnostic machine. If you have two temp sensors on your engine, one for the dash display and the other for the management system, try swapping them over and see how the car runs before buying a new sensor.
I do realise that this is probably failing oil rings allowing diesel oil into the sump.
What can I do to alleviate this. Isuzu engine has only done 80000 miles but lots of stop n start.... Read more
is this the vauxhall engine or is it the jap izuzu engine if its the later then you possibly have an leak back issue the injectors are join together inside the rocker cover by a rail and then leads out of the head, the leak of rail is held down by banjo bolts and it has copper washers, these due to exspansion and contraction end up weaping this then dilutes the engine oil, regards TB
Having trouble in getting a speedy startup from cold:
Engine dies almost immediately after firing up, after the glowplug light goes out.
Needs 3-4 more "plug warm-ups" before the engine fires up revs up to 1000rpm.
Any ideas, before the next big freeze arrives ??!!
thanks Read more
Checked the glowplugs - all OK.
I've managed to solve the problem: Unlike the older diesel systems (eg my '51 reg. Berlingo ), the Avensis system doesn't like the plugs, etc to be repeat-heated before being fired up....
My c4Hdi diesel has done 39140 miles and had been serviced by the main dealer to proper specification (last service end Oct at 37500. I have just pointed out a"chirping " noise to the dealer who has diagnosed a Cam belt problem and has quoted in excess of £500 to repair. (3 year warranty ended 31/10/10) ie 6 weeks ago!

Thanks for that unfortunately I need the car for a very long journey this weekend and am concerned that if it gets worse the engine will be harmed so worried about the risk....
This is my work van, for the past few days the yellow glow plug warning lamp has been coming on and flashing for a few seconds a short while after starting the engine. Even when the engine is warm, then started it can come on. The engine starts fine every time however.
Should I be concerned about this? I haven't got the handbook for the van so I'm in the dark so to speak. Read more
Yup - I can sympathise with this, which is why I'm changing my '03 V70 D5 SE with 147k on the clock. A lovely car to drive, very practical, smooth, quick, comfortable, but every service at an independent is £6-800. There's always something needs replacing and it's getting too much for me now, I just can't afford it.
In 4 years and 75,000 miles I've had a new radiator, a new intercooler, new track rod ends, a new Mass airflow sensor thing, stupidly low profile tyres at £120 a corner, a replacement wheel (!) several rear windscreen wiper motors, a new passenger mirror (£300 cos it's got motors, memory and heating elements).......it's now got a nice whine from the gearbox in 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th, so clearly a bearing is on the way out in there, it needs new rear shocks, new front wishbone bushes and a damn good service, and there's the spectre of a £1,500 spend if the injectors go west - too rich for me I'm afraid.
