Try the above by blocking off the pipe from servo to engine and see if it stops the engine stalling-could be a leak on the pipe or it's connections but if not then likely to be the diaphragm.

Is this reasonable? I live in Epsom,Surrey - does any one know of a specialist locally perhaps.... Read more

I know of a law which allows you to drive whilst you await the outcome of a driving licence application, I have applied to DVLA and I am awaiting result of medical, on my original application I was permitted to drive whilst I await my results. Now because of confusion between DVLA and independent doctor, I was stopped and my car seized, fined £170 and was given 6 points, I was not told that I am not allowed to drive however I was told I was, I would like to claim this money back if I have a chance. I again applied for my licence and again I should be allowed to drive whilst I await the outcome but this time DVLA say because I have a revocation I am not permitted to drive, I was under the understanding that as soon as I reapply the revocation come of.

Please help me.

My Zafria has lost all power in accelaration yesterday whislt driving - the car wouldnt go over 30mph. I called the AA who said it may be a faulty throttle body and it would need to go to the garage (DUH!). Anyway i took it too my local garage as their far more reasonable than big garages - however i do have autocare cover for 2 years with Arnold Clarke - having phoned my local garage they tell me that the accelorator pedal is faulty. Would this be covered under my Autocare with Arnold Clarke or am i having to fork another bill?

your help would be appreciated... Read more

Petrol or Diesel Zafira ? Loss of power on the Diesel is normally termed as 'limp home mode' and generally means EGR or DPF problems. Loads of information on those in Google.

Hello all, I bought a new car from a dealer 200 miles away in early December. On the drive home with less than a 100 miles on the clock the engine management light came on. The RAC came out, could tell there was a fault but couldn't read it. However in consultation with the manufacturer cleared it for the trip home.

The car then went into the local franchised dealer for investigation. They had to phone the manufacturer for advice and re installed some engine management software.... Read more

The "three chances" used to be the guidance for a second hand car and also to stop people rejecting new vehicles for trivial reasons - and is still a good model which should be followed. It is not however set in law and if your engine management light came on three times you would probably not have grounds to reject the car unless it was an indication of something very serious.

Generally speaking for a rejection there has to be one catstprophic failure soon after the vehicle was sold or a series of serious failures early in the ownership....

Hi All

I have a a 2007 focus 1.8 petrol. Since the car was serviced in April at Dees of Croydon (franchised dealer), i have only covered 4k miles. I checked the oil the other day and noticed that it has changed colour to dark brown. The level has not gone down at all. The service interval is 12.5k miles. Is this normal? Read more

Can you still get Duckhams oil? That particular brand used to get very scummy in use with a ring of mayo around the filler cap during the cold weather on short runs (cured by covering half the rad with tin foil). Other than that, decent enough stuff.
