Hi there,
I recently have had a new gear box and clutch fitted to my Fiat Punto. At first it seemed to drive o.k apart from an occasional pulling back when accelerating, but I put this down to the fact the petrol had run very low and it may have been dirt in the bottom of the fuel tank being sucked into the system. Yesterday when I tried to start it it just made a clicking noise which was coming from the engine and the dash lights were also flashing. When I tuned the key fully nothing happened and it didn't turn over. We tried to bump start it but it would not start however the engine did now turn over but will not start. Any ideas as we are baffled by this one? Thanks Brian. Read more
there is an earth strap at the rear of the engine /gearbox which is crucial. check the earth strap is fitted and tight

Xmas greetings everyone!
Ok my old aunt isn`t really called Gladys but she would like a narrower car to make parking and getting in&out of vehicle easier in her garage.Plan B is to win the pools/lotto and build a bigger garage. Also don`t think Santa can squeeze a prefab kit in his sack(Trade unions+H&S),so plan A is to find a reliable narrower car than her 2007 fez-bomb.She`s not a fan of the Micra`s looks but did mention Kia,don`t think she wants anything too small.Assume she would buy newish previously owned or new.I haven`t had time to go around supermarket car-parks with a tape measure so has anyone any ideas please? The thing i would replace on your zafira is brake switch about £20 same symptons
sudden loss of power until ignition is re-cycled then full power is back on very common fault on vauxhalls Hth Regards Mickeybo
My 2003 V70 D5 regulary (every 10-20k) develops a fault where under hard acceleration the engine hesitates & then goes into 'limp home' mode with the message 'Urgent engine service required'.
On stopping & restarting the engine it clears & drives Ok until you accelerate hard, when he problem re -occurs. It then gets progressively worse until the car is un driveable. On each occassion it has turned out to be the Bosch fuel metering valve that has gone faulty & usually ends up costing me £200 plus with diagnostics & labour.... Read more
I would suggest that the fuel tank pick up is cleaned and the intank filter or pre- filter.
i suspect you may have a bacteria issue in the tank, causing a fine black film causing metering valve problems....

Is it true that putting winter tyres on will increase your insurance premium? As a matter of fact, you are modifying your car.

Hi
I recently purchased a 2007 Honda CR-V i-VTEC from a main dealer, and the service history looked good, all the services at the right mileage, etc. Only the other day I noticed that between service 1 and 2 there was a gap of 24 months, but it was at the right mileage. Basically it had one service at 12,000 miles in 2008, and another at 24,000 miles in early 2010. It was also serviced by the dealer just before I bought it, so 3 services in total.... Read more
