Car wouldn't start, thought it was flat battery, (was turning over with dificulty) but my taxi driving neighbour said frozen diesel! When it thawed (monday), started it and then took it for a good drive, and SHE who must be obeyed to the sales, where they just happened to have a Poundstretcher and they had battery booster packs for £25, ( halfords £50) Suddenly remembered Short runs = battery drain. So just in case as need to be mobile for getting to work.

I have to change dipped beam headlamps once every six or seven months.
Is that normal if not can you give me advice how I can avoid repalcing quite often?... Read more
Also check the voltage across your battery with the engine running, it shouldn't be more than about 14.3 volts. Vibration can cause the lamps to fail as well.
As part of a job application I am being asked about my driving license. I have 3 points for speeding 18 months ago which I have declared where asked for in 'Traffic Offences'. There is then another section for 'Motoring Offences' - have I commited a motoring offence in the past 5 years?
Does this apply to serious crimes such as Drink-Driving or driving without insurance?... Read more
The two are used interchangeably. I suppose a decriminalised matter enforced by a PCN such as driving in a bus lane might be deemed differently but I would do as Vitesse6 says.

Thanks i have changed the fuel manifold sensor but the car is now off two cylinders.
this started tonight on my way home from work i went round a corner my stereo cut out for a second the abs light flashed on and off and then the managment light came on the will now not rev past 3200 rpm when i get to these revs it's like it is hitting the limiter.
when i turned the engine off and back on again it revved fone took it out for a spin hasitated abit at 4000rpm still not right but drives i don't want to start thrashing the daylights out of it to test how far up the range it goes for fear of causing further damage.... Read more
Other than the above, maybe one the main earthing cables from engine to body/ body to battery has corroded, or worked loose. Check the battery connections in general for tightness and cleanliness.
Hello, my problem is the boot release. When you press the button to open the doors on the central locking, the boot does not open. To open the boot, you have to press the boot release button. This may not sound as tho its a problem as such but is soooooo annoying, especially say when I pick someone up and they need to put something in the boot - I have to switch the engine off and "pop the boot"
It has stopped working all of a sudden by the way - the open doors button used to open all the doors and the boot.... Read more
I have exactly the same problem, did you solve it?
My car has nt been able to start for over a week now. The car turns over but will not fire up. After turning over there is a smell of fuel. I thought it might have been damp spark plugs so I bought new ones. The same happened. it still would not start. I then checked the plugs for a spark and there is a spark present. It has been very cold up here so dont know if that could be the probem. A few days before this happened the fuel injector warning light came on briefly but went off again while driving. It did not effect the performance of the car. Can anyone give me anymore ideas of what else to try before I tow it to a garage. Thanks Read more
