As above - Chrysler grand voyager turbo boost problems - Bob Monkhouse

I've recently bought a Chrysler Grand Voyager turbo diesel. It has an intermittent boost problem and I am hoping its the egr valve sticking. Where is the egr valve on this engine/ Any advice from anyone who can help would be gratefully received, thanks in anticipation, Bob Monkhouse.

I've found the egr valve and this isn't causing the boost problem, I would be grateful for any input into this from anyone who has similar problems.B.M.

I'm no expert and had no experience at all on the Voyager but if your not getting full boost some of the time I would have thought the ECU is holding the Wastgate open in certain conditions. If you sometimes do get full boost I would say your turbo is working ok and would'nt worry about it.

I'd be tempted to think along the lines of Air Mass Sensor (in the air intake) as this could fool the ECU into thinking the engine isn't under as much load as it really is and reduce the boost and fueling acordingly. Is there lot's of black smoke in your mirror when the boost problem arises? if there is, this means the computer is supplying full-boost fuel and might point towards a sticking Wastegate.

As I said I have no idea about the chrysler fuel system but is a generic idea of where to start looking!

Regards

Chris

I have a Grand Cherokee 3.1 td and had the same problem. It disappeared when I changed the two temperature sensors on the engine. It has now performed flawlessly for 4000 miles. The sensor problem did not show up on a diagnostic machine. If you have two temp sensors on your engine, one for the dash display and the other for the management system, try swapping them over and see how the car runs before buying a new sensor.
