Hi, we recently bought what is supposed to be a 2009 VW Polo 1.2 Match 60. I have since seen other VW Polo Match's and they all have air con, our one doesn't. I have checked on Parkers site and air con is supposed to be standard on the Polo Match. CD multichanger is supposed to be standard too and we haven't got that either but we do have all the other things that it's supposed to have like electric heated door mirrors, alloys etc.
The registration doc says VW Polo Match60 and is therefore insured as such. My worry is that this is not the car it's supposed to be but at the same time, all the features don't match up with any of the lower ranked models like S, Twist, E.... Read more
Hi
Question for you if you can help, my car has been seized although my friend was willing to drive the and was fully insured to drive it, the police said it is up to them whether they allow this, is this true??... Read more
Please explain why you have no licence and why you were driving the car. Regards Peter
HAve just bought this car. It is a 5.5 PAssat 1.9 TDI 130, with AWX engine code. I am trying to fathom out oils etc and there seems to be some confusion as to whether this is a PD engine or not, which affects oil used. It has done 70K miles and is on the variable/long service regime. Don't want to cock that up by using wrong oil Read more
From bitter experience, a failed upper ball joint / corroded pinch bolt costs around £500 per side to fix, because the entire suspension upper arm assembly has to be removed from the car. Also the upper arms often don't survive the heat & force necessary to split the corroded bolt....
Hi,
Think I may be in need of a new battery in my 4-year old Focus 1.8TDCi - what is a good make of battery, and where should I get it fitted - dealer, KwikFit, Halfords, etc?! Read more
Great advice as ever! Yes, will get the radio code before I replace....!
I wonder if anyone on here can help clarify the process that needs to be followed here please?
Basically, my wifes car has had an engine warning light illuminated a few weeks back. Got a diagnostic test done on the message and it indicated 'camshaft sensor' fault and just needed replacing. It was safe to continue to drive I was told.... Read more
Do a 'google' on this.
You'll find there's a description of how far out the tensioner limit is....
Have been looking around at SUV type cars and thougth the Juke looked weird but wonderful.Started to look at the specs/prices and noticed there was no alarm fitted.
Emailed Nissan UK to confirm wether an an alarm system was fitted as standard and the reply was'No'.... Read more
Or 'Joke' - a styling joke. No offence intended.
I got a new company car less than 2 years ago. As is the trend, manufacturers are increasingly going away from proven lever and cable handbrake technology to the electronic push button system with electronic actuators.
Last week, my electronic parking brake failed, main dealer said it was due to a failed actuator which had to be replaced. Part was ordered, car in workshop for 2 hours and sorted. I asked what the cost is as a matter of interest (as it is a lease car) and was told the actuator alone is £675 plus 2 hours to fit at main dealer labour rates plus VAT. That makes it not far off £1,000 to repair a parking brake (handbrake) and it is mandatory as it is an MOT fail item.... Read more
Toyotas now have 5 yr warranty in UK IIRC so you would have been covered for longer if you buy in 2nd half of 2010
Hi.
I am wondering if back roomers can recommend a good welder. I am looking to do a small amount of welding, so I do not want to spend a large amount. Which welders are generally known to be the best, i.e. Clarke or Sealey, and can anyone point me in the direction of any bargains around. I understand that gas is the best bet based on results.... Brought a Gas less MIG Welder from Screwfix about a year ago. It was £90, yes 90 quid. Had never welded before and used it to weld up chassis on old Triumph Herald I had aquired. Got a mask for about £11 from toolshop. Gasless MIG is OK for general jobs and eventually did a reasonable job.
I am negotiating to buy a 2002 (52) reg, Citroen Dispatch 1.9 Diesel, Non Turbo van. The van has done 80,000 miles, i have known the vans owner since it was new and it has never done a hard days work in its life. It has full service history, had its cambelt changed, plus a new clutch fitted. Has one years MOT and is taxed until March 2011. I need to know if i can use this van to tow, LEGALLY, a 4 wheel car trailer loaded with a medium sized car eg, Peugeot 206. Maybe i am wrong but, do you add the trailer weight and the car on the trailer together. Then that weight must not exceed the total weight of the towing vehicle. Is this correct please. Also do you think the 1.9 diesel is powerful enough to tow a loaded car trailer. Plus could you also give me an approximate valuation on the van please. Many thanks. Read more
Bosal in the reference section give a total towing weight braked of 1800kg.

sorry for bringing up an old thread but i am having the same probs as the OP. I hope this fixed your problem mate. can someone please give me instruction on how to do this.
Any replys are appreciated.
Sorry but I didn't spot some of the above posts. I'd like to point out that it would cost up to £1800 to have air con fitted, much easier when being built they said than retro. Hardly a trivial amount. Also, we didn't buy the car from the website ad remember, we were sold it by the salesman. Finally, how do you sort it out with the dealer in 20 minutes when they refuse to talk to you, I will get someone to call you back..unavailable, busy...
