I have an intermittent fault with my 2005 307. My key stopped working after a new battery was put in (could not unlock/lock the car but started fine)so had to get a new key made from Peugeot. After this the car sometimes would not start, everything appears normal but then nothing happens when I turn the key. This has been going on for six months and the problem occurs about twice a month, usually when my wife is stranded somewhere. I have taken the car back to Peugeot who have run a diagnostic and the want me to spend Euros (i live in France) 850 for a new battery (even though I have already just done this) and an Vanne EGA (some sort of valve?), I don't believe they have found the problem as it is so intermittent and I will be wasting my money.
Anyone else had a problem like this and found a solution?? Thanks

My Peugeot 206 had a problem where I would turn on the ignition and the warning lights would come on but I when I turned the key further to engage the starter all the electrics went dead. I thought it was a loose battery terminal but all these were secure. However, while the +ve lead was tight on its terminal, the terminal itself was loose on the battery. The terminal coming out of the battery looks a like a large spade connector and the dome shamed terminal (that the lead connects to) fits like a cap over this, in my case not very securely. I wedged a small washer in the gap between these two and hammered it home. No problems since.
Hi
I recently bought a Nissan Micra with inbuilt parking sensors. However I want to take my driving test in it but have been told by the DSA that I need to be able to switch off the sensors for my manoeuvres. Anyone got any idea how to do this as I have checked the handbook but am drawing a blank? ... Read more
Thanks everyone
Managed to find the control box for the sensors and unplugged the buzzer so no more noise and easy to replace after the test.

There's several threads about this covering Peugeot and Citroëns.
See, for example, www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=62042
I drive a 2007 2.0 diesel Sportage. 5000 miles / 4 months ago the water in fuel filter light started coming on occaisionally. I took it to the dealer who drained the fuel filter (he said he could tell whether there was water in it or not). This didn't make any difference to the regularity in which the light comes on. It generally stays on for 15-20 seconds after starting (from either hot or cold) and very occasionally comes on while driving. A couple of times there has been a slight loss of power when it comes on.
Some old threads mention this but nothing in the last few years. Is it worth having th filter/ sensor changed or is it just a nuance which isn't worth bothering about? Read more
Drain the filter housing (should be a drain tap, connect a thin pipe) into a glass then remove the filter and phsically examine the filter bowl for water and staining.
If there's no water at the bottom of the glass or filter bowl it's possible the sensor presumably a float is stuck, you might be able to free it off....
I have been thinking of buying a 3 series for a while. I am looking for a sub £7000 3 series diesel, either a 320d or 330d.
I am wondering if a 330d would be suitable for a 12 mile journey to work, mainly 30 mph urban roads. The journey time is usually about 25 – 30 minutes.... Read more
Excellent cars, the 330 will be more expensive because it has the desirability of the boy racers where the 320 doesn't so much but is far quicker mid range than most realise, and much better VED....research the inlet manifold flaps problem (both engines) and budget a couple of hundred into getting them blanked off for peace of mind.
Will you be going auto, would make the commute much more bearable and BMW auto's are very good, they need a periodic oil change make sure it's done, if you find a high mileage (80+) that hasn't been done walk away.
Looking for long termer (5years+) can get 1.4 jazz 05-06 within my budget with fsh etc. Given that I currently drive a 2 litre petrol, am I going to hate it?
Will be used for a 20 mile commute and occasional mway trips. Should add that I am wanting to save some cash on running costs so perhaps my first point is academic!... Read more
I drove both a Jazz and a Yaris before deciding. The ride over speed humps made it for me: Yaris. The Jazz was sooooo uncomfortable on rough roads.

I am staggered! Skoda want my car for a whole day to replace a single front indicator bulb. They tell me that the bumper, grille and the relevant headlight have to be removed first. It may be under warranty but this is plain madness.
What's that going to cost when out of warranty? Nice little earner for Skoda and their dealers. Read more
Buster, I think you'll be doing well to have the bulb replaced under warranty and am pleased to see they're doing it. I asked my local dealer who advised that bulbs are consumable and not covered by warranty (tyres, exhaust, wiper blades etc..). So I'm not surprised to hear bulbs aren't covered and whilst I haven't looked at the T&C's would be very confident it's in there and the dealer's quite correct.
The dealer hadn't done one yet so didn't have first hand knowledge but agreed it looked like a bumper off job and said whilst there would be a charge it wouldn't be the full hourly rate and even it it took several hours the charge would be more concessionary rather than actually reflecting the full cost of removing and replacing bumper, headlight, re-aligning beam etc....
I DRIVE A 2.2 JAGUAR X TYPE 06 REG. Does anyone know where the water pump is situated on this vehicle. I cannot find a Haynes Manual that covers this particular model
Thanks Read more
Haynes certainly do one for the old Fiesta(upto '02)-it's 3397.The pump should be in the same place on all 1.25's.
Hi,
I just did this job last night. You don't need any special tools, just twist the bayonet end and pull the rear collar forwards over the green plastic circlip type thing. Just keep twisting and pulling and it will come. I think I turned mine at least a couple of times before it gave, so perseverance is the key....
