Hi there,
Does anyone knows how to refill the gearbox oil on the above car?
Had to change drive shaft and lost quite an amount of oil.
Thanks

I will soon need some new front tyres on my A4 and dont want to spend too much (ie Continental/Michelin etc). Are Vredstein tryres generally any good, as they seem reasonable, and are not some unknown Chinese brand you see so much of these days, ie Linlong, Goodride, Freeway etc ? Read more
Find a local independent - £6 a corner at mine including a cuppa and a seat in his oily armchair while he fits them.
You are lucky, I live in the thames vally, there aren't any 'nice' tyre fitters like this in my area !

As well as having worked on and driven many, every car I've ever owned except one has been a Vauxhall. I would not buy one now though.
1976 Cavalier 1600GL - Fantastic car even if a bit under-powered. It was comfortable and I drove this to the south of France in 1985. Never gave me any trouble. I owned this for just under 5 years and I loved it....

Well to replace the battery would be a good place to start. Electronic control units do need a stable battery voltage otherwise all sorts of strange occurances can happen. In extreme cases ECUs can become damaged by voltage spikes produced by the car's charging system if the battery is unstable. As a matter of priority I would have your battery checked and replaced if unserviceble. Also I would check to make sure you have a good connection between the engine block, chassis and battery negative, also known as the engine earth. A fault here will also give very strange symptoms.....
My Ford Fiesta Finesse make a, "whirring sound" on engine start, I assume it is the starter motor, but it is not igniting. After several attempts, the car does start. The fault seems to only happen when the weather is cold/wet, and seems to be happening more often now we are moving in to winter. Initially the fault happen in May/June 2010, then did not happen again for a couple of months, any ideas?

Damp weather is the pain in the back side to cars im afraid and damp weather on clutches causes judder but not in dry weather and electrical components like you starter motor takes a lot of current to get the solonoid to move over.
In the old days you may have heard of a distributor cap? Damp in this and no car would start.
bought a golf today that seems great but I noticed a strange whirring/whining noise from the front end when gas pedal is down at 50mph or more - when I take foot off the gas the noise disappears. (sadly didn't go over 40 on test drive) This car didn't have much history, so unsure about cambelt (its done 73k) any ideas please? Have I been stuffed? Read more
Check the engine undertray is fixed securely. Might be being caught by the wind and flapping around.
Hi john,
I am an overseas student. Recently bought a peugeot 406 HDI 2.0 Y reg off a dealers. For some reason, everytime I start the engine, this Antipollution fault comes at the display for a few seconds and then vanishes off. And the check engine lights lit as well through out the whole drive. Car runs fine though. I have not had any problems with it so far. Recently got the engine serviced. Told my mechanic about it he says he has no clue whatsoever! I read all the posts related to this but couldn't conclude anything. Thought, I'd start my own thread. What do you reckon I should do (in a lay-man terms please). I am bad with technical words and phrases :( ..... Read more
thanks for the suggestion mate, it's just I have recently had my MOT taken. It passed it without any faults. The only thing that worries me is that at time clutch paddle when pressed down, doesnt come back up rather stays a little pressed and gear shifting is affected badly. This anti pollution fault light comes on everytime i start the engine, or If i come to a stand still and open my door etc. I have to go scotland next week and I am seriously not sure if I should take my car or not caz at them moment it's not giving me a tough time. Also, I am a little car fanatic. I want my car to be perfectly fine. These warning lights disturb me. :(
How easy is it to drive into London on a Sunday and is it possible to park all day (relatively) cheaply and securely? Coming from Southampton, btw and would be making an early start to arrive 9-ish. It's over £90 for a family of four on the train, £80 if I buy a railcard.

It won't cost over £90 by train. The "Groupsave" ticket lets four adults travel together for £63, valid on any train at weekends. No need to book in advance or buy a railcard.
Parking regs in London vary from borough to borough and even from street to street. There are places where you can park for free but general advice is useless as there are so many variations.
I have fitted side facing seats and rear side window panels to my LR. Do I have to notify the DVLA and do they change the Registration document from van to car and change the road tax. Also what are the insurance implications? Read more

Hi All, monday morning I went to start my car, heard an almightly grinding/banging noise from under the bonnet. Turned the engine straight off. Tried again, similar noise, just less severe. Turned engine straight off again.
Went to start it last night, turned key, heard a clunk and dash lights all went out, as well as interior light. Got RAC man out and he tried jump leads- nothing, still only a clunk and the lights went out.... Read more
Its gone, sorry. Got £450 so fairly chuffed.
You need to ask on one of the colt forums http://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/.
Not as simple as it first seems you generally need a dip stick because overfilling can be fatal and also the correct oil exactly the same as is already in.I did the same on a Renault it was reasonable easy the filling point is normally quite low down on the side of the box .
