I have a Ford Mondeo manufactured in March 2009. I purchased it from a Ford garage in August 2009 and it was given a service at that time.
A new service is now required (mileage is 17000 miles) but two Ford garages have told me that an interim service is required, one a full service and one 'in between' which apparently includes fitting a new pollen filter.... Read more

£150 per month over 36 months gets you between £4,000 & £4,500 depending on the interest rate.. You say it's payment OR £3,500 but if you have some cash I would be tempted to put £1500 deposit & for £150 per month get yourself a 2 year old Kia Picanto (if you can get one sub 18 months old & on the Approved scheme you get a 3 year waranty & 24 months RAC included)
The way finance works in the car trade is that the newer the car, the better the rate. But check the banks as to how much they will charge. ...

Can anyone recommend a cheap code scanner that will save me having to pay diagnostic charges?
I have seen a few on ebay that are hand held or laptop based like the T40, U480 or Elm327 or should I get one that's slightly more expensive like a Maxiscan MS509

Or even the Gendan GCR05 for £40??
after getting through it's MOT i was advised by the mechanic that my aerodeck was going to need the Catalytic Converter replaced. I asked how much it would be and he quoted about £500 (£350+VAT for the part and rest for labour) high cost because the converter is part of the exhaust manifold and the whole lot needs to get replaced. After googling for converters most of the ones i found are around £80. Could i not just buy one of these and get someone to fit it???
Many thanks for any help... Read more
How do I adjust so = both sides when only seem to be able to adjust on offside. Read more
Does it not use a continuous cable so shortening it adjusts both sides?
Hi, I have my car on pcp contract over 4 years, I have had it for just under 6 months.... Read more
I think you will find its a DPF, which is a filter that catches the particles generated by diesels (not pollen), these have eliminated the black clouds that used to come out of diesels. The dpf then burns the particles during a regeneration cycle. Different cars do this in different ways.
The problem in that when a car is used for short journeys and stop-start traffic the engine is not meeting its criteria to begin regeneration. Result - filter clogs and car goes into limp mode. What they have told you to do is correct to clear it....
I am looking to buy a 4x4 but have not got a clue which one to get so if I say what I'm looking for maybe someone can throw a few ideas my way.I know I want a diesel one and I want a smallish one aswell.I'm not going to be doing much off roading its just my job involves driving along a beach about 40 yards to get to my place of work and theres a couple of rocks to go over so a car will just not do.I have a couple of children so I want something with all the toys you get in a car air con cruise control all electrics and a sunroof if poss.I was thinking of a jeep cherokee CRD limited that was quite nice and I quite like the rav 4.I will be doing mostly day to day driving on roads and my misses will want to drive it aswell school runs shopping etc so I want something thats as close to being in a car as poss not an agri type 4x4 something that pulls quite well ,so any ideas anyone.
Cheers in advance Read more
If ground clearance isn't an issue (where you go over the rocks), and you want a 4x4 that is as car-like as possible - what about a 4x4 version of an 'ordinary' car rather than an SUV?
Most Jaguar X-Types are 4x4, while various Audis and nearly all Subarus are 4x4.
I was leaving work today and intending to follow a friend to a meeting. We were both parked in the work car park, she was further from the exit than me so i sat and waited for her to pass before i pulled out. As i was waiting i saw a white van pass behind the car which was parked in front of me (essentially the car park consists of four rows of spaces and a one way u shaped road to enter and exit. i was parked by the exit road with the car in front of me parked by the entry road, hopefully that makes sense) now i know the car park having used it for over a year and i know that it is limit visibility whilst using and driving in it, so therefore i am slow and careful when manovering.
the white van was going at a fast speed because i saw it out of the corner of my eye and this thought crossed my mind. My friend passed my car and i then started to reverse slowly as i did this the white van appeared behind me and my bumper hit his drivers door. ... Read more
Yet another demonstration of the advantages of reversing in to a parking slot rather than reversing out.
I have a 2000 1.6 Vauxhall Tigra, and the drivers side boot hinge is leaking when it rains, (the side that connects to the body, so it leaks in the cabin) and with the weather the past few days the back seat has gotten soaked, does anyone know how to fix this? Read more
If it's got loose you'd have to pull the trim off and tighten the fittings, but I'd be more inclined to suspect a dirty seal.
If the rubber has gone a bit dried up, you used to be able to get a product which rejuvenated it. Worked wonders.

What servicing has it had - the service intervals on these is 12500 miles I believe (well it is on my 08 2.tdci manual)
What mileage did it have when you bought it?...
