I have replaced the diesel fuel tank in a mk5 fiesta TDi as it had a hole it and failed the MOT.
The fiesta is now refusing to start. I tried to bleed the fuel system by filling the fuel filter with diesel and loosened the injectors nuts one at a time while turning he engine over to try get all the air out. The engine will start after turning over for a while but then immediately cuts out. I have tried this over and over again but it continues to start then cut out. I have noticed that after trying to start the engine that the fuel filter is empty of diesel and needs to be refilled. Could this be caused by an air lock in the fuel line and is there a way to sort this? I put 2 gallons of fuel in the new tank so am assuming this is enough to reach the fuel line.... Read more
I would say you almost certainly have air in the fuel system, you probably have a leak somewhere, connect a length of clear plastic tube betwen the pump and filter then you can watch your progress in finding the leak. If its only happened since the tank was fitted and nothing else has been disturbed, it could be where the pipe is fitted to the tank unit. It could of course be caused by a blockage, try blowing some air back down the fuel pipe from the engine end and see if you can hear it bubbling in the tank. I suppose you have'nt got the feed and return lines swapped over?
the air con was working on my 99 diesel sharan. the problem started when there was a strong electrical burning smell. this blew the fuse and stopped the air con. i replaced the fuse but no air con.
is this problem the electro coupler??? if so can you buy the part and is it easy to fit.... Read more

My current insurance company informed me that they cannot renew my insurance 'due to a change in underwriting terms'. I passed the test in March 2009 and bought my first car in August 2009. I caused a small accident (hit a parked car/no people involved/my fault) a week later. Four months later I received a letter informing me of a claim against me and nothing else. However, when I try to get a new insurance quote I am asked for the cost of claim. How can I know? How can I get a new insurance? Please, help me. Read more
No, I informed them and sent the accident report form (to my broker), but only received a letter from the insurer four months later and nothing about the claim amount.

There's a heater valve that packs up or your matrix is blocked have you tried a simple flush?
Wife has a Mini cooper s fitted with standard radio cd player. Ive never noticed before but you can have the stereo on without the ignition being on. Is this normal?, i thought you could only have it on with ignition switched to fist position.
It alos keeps turning itself off after 20 minutes of use, however you can turn it straight back on. just a bit puzzled.... Read more

What could be causing it? Hmmmm....my guess would be to look at the EGR valve first. :)
It might just need taking out and cleaning.
