having just spent a month in the states touring I was astounded at just how bad the pollution levels are! in some areas the sky is just laden with pollution ! In one particular town almost every vehicle was a 4x4 on steroids & when they were parked next to a BMW X5 it made the BMW look like a dinky toy & most of there 4x4's are V8+ and 5.7 ltr upwards !!!!!
On American TV everynight in the Hotels was BP & the spill all night everynight! now I do sympathise with the spill & it should never of happened & if it did a contingency plan should of been in place BUT the American goverment approved the drilling in the first place & they still allow then to run around in 5-10 ltr 4x4's by the million. Fuel was still very cheap & whilst out there we used an SUV ( Chevey 4x4) and it was 40 dollars to fill up froma quarter!on average, so about £30.00 !! so cheap & they moan about cost of fuel! we were paying between $2.67 & $3.65 per American gallon so at the most expensive about £2.50ish for around 4 ltrs.
They are also extremly lavish with their Aircon & lighting everywhere so I still think they do their bit for global warming & then they wonder why some states have suffered a drought for 10 years Read more
Yes it works in the states and here in Germany .
Bought a second hand Tiger Reg 2001, First ride was nearly my last. Banked over to the left and it seemed to lock on the steering, the side stand dropped cutting the motor and the front brake seemed to make the whole bike judder, but this had a brand new MOT?
Contacted another garage as I still had a week left on the warranty, after, all 8 defects were found by vale motorcycles in Cowbridge I had the bike sent back to the original dealership with a list.
The parts that failed inspection were;
Front Wheel bearing - shot
Steering Headrace bearing - shot
Intermittent cutting out - defective wiring from ignition
Sidestand spring - defective
Console Lights - defective
Oil sump leaking - gasket replaced
vibration from final drive chain - adjusted
Engine Idle - defective - parts replaced
I'm told that this particular MOT station has a reputation for "SELLING" MOT's, and this could of ended my riding career for good. I've informed the VOSPA people and they are investigating, I just hope they get their just deserves.

"normally DOT 4 or 5" AFAIK only Harley Davidson specify DOT 5 fluid. I suspect you mean DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 (often called super DOT 4). DOT 5 is silicone fluid and should not be used in systems designed for DOT4 or 5.1

Can you help me please. My golf had the dreaded ESP fault and after a lot of argument VW repaired it under their "Goodwill" scheme. However I have now noticed I have a Dent on the passenger side below the door level so can I ask you please would they have had to have jacked up my car to repair this ESP . Also this last weekend was the first time I'd been out on the motor way with it and my passengers were complaining that the car was shuddering so my next question is would they have had to have taken the wheel off as their suggestion was my tracking was out??
I'd be very grateful for your help before I go back to say anything. Strangely enough I had a phone from a Market research Company to say these people were conducting a survey on the "service" I'd received from the local VW. When I said how rude and unhelpful they were I next day recived a call from the actual VW dealership I told him about the dent not knowing about the shuddering then he said the Manager from the dealership would call me on Monday and I am still waiting. So i need to be armed with a little information please Thank you.... Hi all,

Lots of possible faults on these but very difficult to guess.A diagnostic check may show fault codes but not necessarily related to your problem.Favourites are air mass meter ,ht/spark plug leads or lambda sensor and coolant temp sensor.hth
Help: Took the old girl to Germany over the weekend to open her up a bit and test a few new bits. Great road quite twisty and pretty smooth. Anyway, tootling along at a fair pace I had a call on the mobile (hands, or should that be Hans, free of course). Flicked the switch and it was a work mate of mine, telling me I was being tail-gated by another Ferrari, mirrors not too good of course. This chap apparently wanted to get past but had made no effort to do so, I was happy so I carried on at speed. Suddenly a few minutes later I experienced a sudden loss of power exiting a bend, although it was momentary, it allowed the other driver through. A rudimentary wave of the hand and he was past, although he wasn't quick enough to open up a gap, so positions were effectively reversed.
Do you think the power loss was anything to do with the call? Could it have drained a bit of engine power?... Read more
Does all this make F1 cars the largest and most expensive radio-controlled cars available? Maybe Tamiya should enter F1....
A new (6 months old) battery twice failed to provide enough power to start the car when it was very hot. The first time was when I had filled up after 2 hours of towing a caravan, - on a hot day. Eventually battery recovered enough to start after disconnecting caravan electrics and waiting for 2 hours. The 2nd time the car was solo. Started OK when cold and ran 10 miles to a lunch. After lunch ran 7 miles to the supemarket near Rouen on a very hot day (car in full sun), did about an hour's shopping - battery only just able to turn engine over very slowly but not enough to start the engine. Battery checked with an avometer after it failed to start the engine - down to about 11 volts Bought new battery in the supermarket - no further problems even though weather continued hot.
Does anyone have any idea of why the battery failed? Is there any history of sealed-for-life batteries being susceptible to high temperatures ( the bonnet & engine bay seemed very hot when I opened up to check the battery)? Read more
When towing have you the fridge switched on if so the battery you have is probably not large enough for the job in hand .

Yes, that certainly won't be using a 13-amp plug. It will presumably be level 3 charging, which uses high voltage DC.
