Vectra C CDTI 120 BHP 2005 - EGR Valve emissions detected. - The Rookie

Hi all,

I have a Vectra c 1.9 cdti 120 bhp, the other day i took off the engine cover to find black exhaust emissions on the underside of the cover, right above the EGR valve.

Is this normal, or do i have a faulty Egr valve?

An EGR valve should not leak and if it did you would know about it ,clean it off and see if the crud returns.In fact while you are at it remove and clean the EGR valve its a doddle to do.

thanks Andy, i'll give it a go, may be this might be linked to the cold start problem im experiencing.

Bought a new EGR Valve off Ebay, fitted it, cold start has improved vastly.
