The Department for Transport (DfT) has "unwittingly" misled the public over the benefits of speed cameras for the last four years."

I had a dealer install a reversing sensor/warning kit a few years ago. Now when I select reverse I hear 2 sets of musical beeps, each lasting about 10 seconds. It's very musical but I don't understand the significance of them. The sensors appear to be working correctly although to be honest I did reverse into a wall at speed recently ....

Afternoon All,
I have just taken up a new role for a certain large bank based in Canary Wharf and I was after some advice on living in that part of London which I don't know well at all. I was comtemplating renting a room for a couple of months prior to renting a 2 bed apartment when SWMBO joins me in early Nov. I would like to be able to walk / cycle to work - something I have not been able to do since junior school....... Read more
I have been considering Greenwich but am thinking Hampstead might be a bit more affordable and it's slightly nearer to where I will be studying (KCL), has anyone had any experience living there? I've found a few nice lettings in the area for about 200 a week but I'm wondering if there's anywhere more affordable slightly further out of town but not much more difficult to commute from.
Any suggestions would be really useful....
I bought a second hand BMW 5 series from an authorised dealer last year (07 plate). At the time the salesman infromed me the car came with run flat tyres and as there was no spare wheel or inflation device provided I assumed this to be correct.
I've recently discovered the tyres are not run flat (when I got a puncture!) and feel that I was mis-sold the car. I'm no car expert and wouldn't necessarily know what to look for in identifying whether a tyre is run flat or not. In any case as I was buying from an approved dealership I believed what was being said to me at the time.... Read more
I'm pretty sure that run-flats would have been standard original fitment on an E60. Also there's a symbol on the tyres (a small RFT in a circle is one derivative of this but there are others) so you could arguably have checked at the time had you known this.
However, I think that some owners replace runflats with non-runflats due to ride quality....

To test the MAF disconnect if it runs just the same as before its faulty if it runs rougher than before its ok.
Hello and thanks for all the advice so far.
After removing the cylinder heads and skimming, refitting, chucking the thermostat, flushing the radiator and hoses, checking the viscus fan and replacing the two electric cooling fans the engine still boils and spits the coolant out on the ground through the header tank vent cap after only a couple of miles. I was not convinced with the finish of the skim job but the company does it all the time for the local land rover agency so trusted them. could not see evidence of cracking of the heads anywhere, on replacement I replaced the streach bolts and torqued religously.... Thanks everyone for all the good advice, i'm currently 1k miles to the south of the car and won't be back til next saturday but at least there are a few ideas to be getting on with. my wife returns from summer holidays in the uk on 15th so can hand carry bits for repair. no chance of sniffing anything out here as equipment next to non existant.
where and what number is the best source of bits if an improvement on paddocks, cheers, mike
I have a Ford Fiesta Freestyle 1.6 Y reg (2001).
When the engine is started from cold and the air circulation / blowers or air con (it happens the same for both) is on cold and stays there, there is no problem with the temperature in the car.... Read more
The Fiesta's heater control valve is notoriously unreliable. I've changed it twice on my wife's Mk 4 model. It's pulse-driven from the controller so I'm not sure how to test it, but in your case it may just be sticking rather than failed completely.
It sits at the top middle of the engine-bay bulkhead and is easily accessible. Fitting a new one takes about 15 minutes, and as it's high up you don't lose much coolant - there's no real need to drain down.
Helo..can anyone tell me if there is anything i should really look out for with a 3.5 im going to look at.
100.000 miles, fsh. I know it stalls when pulling away if engine not warm then fine when warmed up. The last thing i want to do is a head gasket kit on one of these so im hoping its a minor common fault that someone may be aware of. Thanks for any replies

My electronic key (which doubles as a remote control for the locks) suddenly one day ceased to function - luckily at home where I could get the spare key. It isn't the batteries. I have been told I need to pay £240 for a new one. isn't there anywhere I can get the key re-programmed? Read more
No. Mercedes charged me £170 to confirm what I say go to any DB forum site.
Well, thanks for advice. Looks as if I shall have to shell out!...
