I have noticed there is an oil leak under my car, and as the oil is red i think its the gear box. as you look at the car, it coming from the right. and it looks like it may be the gearbox sump gasket? or leaking from the side of the gearbox, where the nuts are to the side casing? if thos makes any sense? is this a common problem? and is it just a case of buying the gasket, undoing the bolts, and swapping? just want to make sure the gear box isn't hydrallic?? and will lose compression? any help? I`ve never been a football fan - but Mrs O who originates from the Orient is a real FAN of England. So amidst all the shouting and yelling from the other end of the sofa - I can`t help glancing at the screen now and then - though it`s just a reflex really.
But last night I glanced up and saw a ball just seem to scoot straight up a goalkeepers hands, over them, off the ground - and into the net.... Read more

I was reflecting on Tits and other birds this Morning while out in the garden.
Pecking around - some look like blue tits, then there are the wood pigeons coming in for a drink out of the pond.... Read more
Can you buy replacement clips to restrain the outer C V boot (80mm). The clip fitted from new has simply popped apart and can not be re connected. As a temporary measure I've put a cable tie around the old clip to hold it in place. There is no ridge on the CV just a slight indentation with a ridge in the rubber boot so I don't want to rely on a cable tie. The only option I can see is to buy a replacement boot kit and take the clip out. Should add there is very little clearance, the cable tie only just fits. Read more
I think your right. I only had two different types handy and they only just fitted. I have just seen on e bay some stainless ties. I am wondering if these may be successful because they join one end on top of the other. The groove in the CV is very narrow and shallow, the boot has a ridge that is only about 1.5mm wide that sits in this groove. I'll have a propper look for some wider and longer ties tomorrow. Thanks

We recently bought a 1997 peugeot 406 with the 2.1 diesel engine and manual gearbox.
We noticed after a couple of weeks ownership that it sometimes popped out of 5th gear but usually only at low RPM and when you were on and off the throttle.... Read more
Its unlikley to be the synchro, that would cause it to crunch when engaging the gear but not normally to drop out. I believe that 5th gear can be accessed by removing the end cover of the gearbox, which is a lot easier than taking it out. I would think that its probably wear on the bearing that's causing the problem but you will need a pretty slick mechanic to do it.
While OE is OK, I keep getitng cut off IE webistes at random with a message saying there may be a malware threat. If I try to download Flash player, I can't even open ActiveX to authorise it (what is ActiveX, by the way?). I have AVG (free) and M/S built in virus checker. I have run c***Cleaner and Malewarebytes (both free versions) all to no effect. Any suggestions gratefully received. Read more
FWIW, there is a Flash upgrade just out that although billed by Adobe as having usability benefits also incorporates a significant security improvement.
Mine asked me to update on Friday night, which I did without problems....

I bought the parts about 7 yrs ago and plugged them all together, using a standard PC case, Asrock motherboard and Athlon (2,000?) processor and so on. Forgot the rest now, but do remember fitting an extra fan.
It was pretty easy to create, the computer, although handling the parts with large, gardening roughened hands, wasn`t. ... Read more

Hi, the rear brakes are easy to do, the pads are fairly straight forward the park brake has shoes inside the disc, you have to remove caliper and anchor bracket then remove disc to gain access to shoes. I had a 99 voyager and the park brake did not work, it turned out the linkage had siezed on the park brake shoes. hope this helps.
