Denied Access to IE8 - bintang

While OE is OK, I keep getitng cut off IE webistes at random with a message saying there may be a malware threat. If I try to download Flash player, I can't even open ActiveX to authorise it (what is ActiveX, by the way?). I have AVG (free) and M/S built in virus checker. I have run c***Cleaner and Malewarebytes (both free versions) all to no effect. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Denied Access to IE8 - oilrag

Hi, Bintang, I would try Firefox.

I seem to remember activeX contols functions on web pages - but I`m not a computer expert. I wonder if some of that stuff you have on is conflicting with the others?

You could disable or uninstall your security stuff and put it back after downloading Flash Player - then run a scan.

Don`t blame me though if something gets in and takes over ;-)

FWIW, there is a Flash upgrade just out that although billed by Adobe as having usability benefits also incorporates a significant security improvement.

Mine asked me to update on Friday night, which I did without problems.

I'd have suggested removing and re-installing IE, but I don't think you can. Have you installed any new software recently? If so you could try uninstalling and perhaps going back to a previous restore point.
