Just read the road test of the new Auris hybrid here. It got me wondering if any manufacturers are planning a larger, Mondeo-sized hybrid, or even a hybrid MPV?
As a company car driver, a hybrid of this size would be ideal for space and tax purposes. Anyone heard any rumours to this effect? Read more
Funny thing about eye candy. It`s great until you get it out of the box and then it has a tendency to melt in your hand - like candy-floss on a stick.
Mrs O, always wanted one until 30 minutes after getting one - when all the little side popping widgets had popped out and in - and left a Rubic Cube of anti-desire, staring back.... Read more
Which does the forum think will give me the longest trouble free run? Iv seen a 52 plate version of all 3 with 80,000ish on the clock. we dont do big miles a year and only a bit of motorway so your words of wisdon would help sway our choice. Read more
With this age and price of car, the way it has been treated will have more influence on its potential servicabllity than the brand, that said I would trust the Mondeo most as the Avensis of that age might have the faulty oil burning batch of engines - yes even the Japs get it wrong occasionaly - and GM electrics are, well, GM electrics.

My SIL is trading in her Toyota Corolla.
One reason is that she finds the beeping noises made when she reverses across the pavement ,or when cars/pedestrians approach, to be unbearably scary.... Read more
The 'beeping' as she reverses across the pavement might be doing her a favour but far more preferable than putting someone in hospital

Hi There,
My wifes Scenic has started giving more trouble. The rear driver window doesent work any more. It falls down when not supported. I took off the panel etc had a look inside. Nothing appears to be broken. The motor works. Nothing seems to be out of place. When the motor is activated via the switch it tries to move the wire but seems to be jammed. The wire going to the spring load on the bottom tightens when the motor is activated so it looks like the wire on the other side is jammed somehow. It also looks as though the wire to the plastic piece which raises and lowers the window could be broken. I have to look at it in more detail. Has anyone had this problem . It looks like an easy fix but just need to know how the wire travels in the mechanism.... Read more
Hi There,
I thought i'd forward my information on fixing this problem successfully. I managed to source the regulator window part on ebay. The regulator is just the name for the plastic piece which is used to house the bottom of the window in place....

Hi, I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction of where to start fault finding with this. I bought the car a week ano, two days later, passenger side front and back central locking stopped working. Yesterday, driver side rear stopped working. Drivers door and boot still work fine, but the rest are unresponsive. Any ideas where to start, i.e. which fuses to check, as there is no fuse diagram on glove box.

this could be a faulty GEM unit which controls the central locking
or it could just be a short somewhere, I think you need it checked by an auto electrician.....

It is very possible that the chip caused the problem people who chip cars want their head examining if you want to go faster buy a fast car if you want a more eco car likewise,I believe there is still a 70mph speed limit in the UK.As for work being done under garauntee I think you need to trace the previous owner and get him to say whether he chipped the car or not.I would as a dealer have great reluctance in doing any work on the car unless you can prove the chip was not your doing.
Has anyone any thought on this? I've thought this was a source of legionella infections for years.
Gave me a shock the first time, looked like gallons of water under the then-new Golf.
