Hi There,
I thought i'd forward my information on fixing this problem successfully. I managed to source the regulator window part on ebay. The regulator is just the name for the plastic piece which is used to house the bottom of the window in place.

The parts , only 1 of wich i used, come in a pair for about 13stg. Its great. I managed to then take the panel off again and have a good look at he mechanism. 3 nuts hold this on and by taking these off its quite easy to get the whole part out. Mind the tensioner on the bottom, it can flip out easily enough, took me 10 minutes to figure out the orientation of it! Although you'll have to take this off anyway to re-arrange the wire , dont be put off, take your time to look to see how this goes on before removing it. Taking a photo of it is a great way to remember ! Dont throw out the old regulator as the rubber piece in it can and is used in the new part as it doesent come with the new regulator. The plastic piece slids up and down the metal slider with the 2 wire cables going in top and bottom. Its quite likely you'll need to activate the window motor to loosen the slack depending on where the motor stopped when the plastic piece/regulator failed.
If anyone wants any help with this or for that matter if someone would like me to do it i can for a small fee. I just got on to Renault Liffey Valley in Dublin and was quoted, including VAT 389euro. b***** rip off ! Took me 1 hour and 13stg for the parts !!!!
