Hi all, new to this site, got a question, anyone help? I, for my sins, invested some 8 months ago in a Citroen Picasso 2.0 HDI on an 05 plate....... I know, what a fool!

Anyway, lately it has developed a steering problem that made the steering heavy and or stiff at times, and after pushing through the initial stiffness it frees. Took it to garage... either fluid problem...ok, pump problem....looks to be working fine, rack.....seems ok too, now the steering uj, well after a good lube the problem seemed to be fixed but after a short drive it returned, re greased ok so I think its the uj worn (used to be a problem on old fords if i remember). anyway... research seems to show that this cannot be changed alone be would involve a complete columb change, can anyone shed and light as to wether this is a seperate part or one piece, and how bigger job this is to do.... My SAAB 9-5 has developed an intermittent fuel delivery problem and needs to be replaced. My local saab specialist has said that the diesel injection pump needs to be replaced. The SAAB list price for the part is £1557.00 +VAT then there is the cost of labour at circa £400.00. The SAAB part number is 97228919 (Denso Unit) can you tell me if I can get an alternative from Bosch which will fit my vehicle. I checked on a german website and it listed a Bosch part number for the 3.0 TID as 0445 010 047.

If anyone can help me reduce the cost of this repair I would be eternally grateful. Read more

I have they have done diagnosis but can only access part from saab dealer at full price.

The fuse keeps blowing on my fuel pump, what should be replaced? Read more

wendy w

The fuse blown was fuse 24, which the handbook says only relates to the fuel pump, which I suppose is triggered by the relay. Everything is still fine at the moment, but as I said I will post an update if this does not cure the problem.

I have an XK150 replica. 4.2 jag auto returning 18mpg. Just about too expensive to drive due to fuel. I have considreed and rejected LPG and intend to repower with diesel. A nice big, low tech powerful economical complete with autobox and must be rear wheel drive! BMW probably- 2.5 tds. My question- which BMW engine is best for power, economy, low tech (minimum electronics)? what years/ engine model ? Read more

Houtbai,

I, for one, being a thrifty farmers Son, with a real daft fondness for 6 cylinder diesels, am "blown away" by your very sensible conversion, being not unlike some of the "re-engining" petrol-to-diesel projects on "G" Wagens, in its complexity....

Any help on this one would be greatly received!

I am a mum of 2 (one two year old and a new born) and I need to purchase a car. I have a budget of £5000 and so far have only found two cars that seem to fit the criteria of being able to fit 2 car seats in the back with space between them and also have a large enough boot to haul around all the bits I need - mainly the double buggy, that fall within my price range - although today I was offered a Zafira with only 30,000 on the clock for £5,000 (1.6 petrol on 54 plate)... I have had a 2006 (56) Kia Carens for just over a year, it is worth considering the latest model, post November 2006 as you will have the remainder of the manufacturers 5 year warranty (extended to 7 years for 2010 registered vehicles). I have found that Kia service from my local dealer is second to none. I have had 3 problems, a broken catch on the central storage box (replaced under warranty), screen washers stopped working (filter cleaned and replaced under warranty even though it was now over 3 years old, how many other manufacturers would regard this as a warranty job and not a service item) and recently a faulty EGR valve (again replaced under warranty along with a diesel particulate and throttle response upgrade carried out). I do around 12,000 miles p.a. and tow a caravan and the automatic Carens is a real dream to drive, the foot operated parking brake is not an issue with the auto box. It is also very economical for a large vehicle and is very well equipped (I have the LS version). If you can afford it a carens with some warranty remaining could be a star buy.

For all those who thought an in car camera was overkill & paranoia I have just had an excellent result!

Driving thorugh a town late at night some holigan thought it would be an excellent idea to try running at my wifes car & kung-fu kick the doorswhilst i was driving ( 20mph) ! fortunatley for me he caught his toes in the drivers door handle which slammed him down in the road & injured his ankle! but i didn't stop as I felt it unsafe to do so !... I think they are wonderful, after one accident and a couple of near misses - one where someone deliberately cut me up and braked hard - I had a rear and forward cameras fitted. Works great, haven't had a incident since.
