I have a 2003 2.2di sport, when i drive it underload when towing or solo between 2k to 2.5k rpm the car makes a noticeable rattling very much like a 'pinking' noise. It only does it between these revs when accelarating once it reaches 3000rpm it goes away, it doesn't seem to lose power or smoke anymore than normal.

I am a bit worried it may be the timing chain, could this cause the above problem.... Read more

Capacitors? I wonder.. Are there any electronics within this light unit? I read of LED driver ICs to control the current and hence the intensity of the light. Never had one apart meself, but I can understand that a good quality unit may have such controls, so perhaps talk of a capacitor holding charge and leaking it to cause a dim glow may be valid! And as for the 50Hz idea? Well, many LED lights are run with pulsed current, often at 50Hz. Ever passed through a road junction at night and had the illusion that the little red or green men on the pedestrian lights formed a line of little glowing men as you blink and turn your head? That's because they aren't continuously lit, but pulsed, so a LED stop light with electronic driver would employ the same technique, methinks. Anyway, to find the problem....

Disconnect the feed wire from the dimly gowing LED cluster. Does this clear the problem?...

Hi

My recently acquired S reg Fiesta 1.25 has an annoying rattle behind the dash on the near/passenger side. I thought it was the hard plastics around the bulk head under the bonnet causing it which I cushioned with some foam but it isn't?? It starts at around 30 mphs and sounds like something is very loose in and behind the glove box area. I can't for the life of me suss it out short of taking the dash itself out? ..:(... Read more

Thanks Ian and Paul

I've had this problem for years, and always assumed it was a loose piece of plastic somewhere in the ventilation system. It never would have occurred to me that it was the heat shield - but I'm delighted to have come across this thread, and it's fixed now.

Thanks again

They are an easy change. Some people report that dealer parts last longer than cheap ones.

Just undo the nut and use a 5mm Allan key to stop the thread rotating....

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could help me fix this issue. When I start the
car I get 2-3 alarms, first one is 'Fuel cap open', the 2nd one is 'Min
level additive gasoil' and the third one which appears randomly is
something along the lines of 'Clean Diesel Filter'.

Someone I know recommended me a mechanic, he said he replaced the fuel
tank but this did resolve the 1st alarm, He also got the additive and
replaced it & put in a new filter but that also didn't work even though we
drove the car constantly at 60 mph for 20 mins (apparently that should
regenerated the FAP and clear the alarm). I have paid around £280 but no
results. Only one result is the car doesn't go into limp mode but im
still worried that will soon come back.... I have now given up, parked the
car on the drive and left it there - this is my last resort for help!!
Can someone please help me with this problem or recommend people who
really know what they are doing!! (P.S. don't say Peugeot dealership - as
they skin you alive! based in Bedfordshire)

Thanks in advance....

I would appreciate some advice and help if anyone could offer... I have been caught for a second time drink driving. The first time was april 2007 and my breath reading was 44, the second time was in march 2009 and breath reading was 54. Could some one tell me what possible scenarios I face and what i'm likely to get as a sentence. I'm worried, i'm scared and ofcourse upset at my behaviour, more so because i have a pregnant wife and a child due in june. Is there any thing i could say to the court to not take my license away as right now i'm depending on my income from driving.

Have been unemployed for a year and a half but havent resorted to public resources of the state out of self respect and dignity and have just been surviving on what I can get and do. I recently got some work as a chauffeur to start earning an income on the weekends and doing an unpaid voluntary internship in accountancy to gain some experience. I also work with a registered charity and a care home for elderly citizens. Could any of these situations help me out or do I have to pay for my actions ? ... Read more

I have a Peug 307 envy 1.4 16v I am constanly have the engine management light coming on, and lately it has been loosing power.. Basically I had a service, they change a filter on the car since then, every time my car is half full of petrol, or driving below 30 mph in traffic, the light will come on with the dash comp reading antipollution fault. I read in the handbook that if this happens to drive the car as soon as possible over 35 mph with reves high.. and also read on another site that putting shell petrol in will cure the problem. This does happen but as soon as i get to just below half full it happens again and lately the car has been pulling and juddering, and losing power.. the light flashed and cat convert fault come on.. But the mot the emmisions were fine and the exhust doesnt make any noise.. It's driving me made and i know it needs sorting, as soon as i fill up the light goes out and car runs ok ..

What can it be, will it be expensive to fix.. Surely if the cat converter is at fault it wouldnt make my car sluggish and loose power . the exhust would make a noise surely..... Read more

I saw a German heavy lorry today with EU safety logos on the back. The curtain under the rear had the blue and white arrow direction sign on the nearside and the red and white no-entry sign on the offside. That reminds me of the joke signs from the 60s, Overtaker on the right and Undertaker on the left.

Its a good idea, saw a variation of it recently, but I do wonder if it will go straight over the heads of those idiots who go up the inside of HGVs at roundabouts!
