BOCONNELL

Bought a brand new S320 CDI in July 2007 and since then it has been wearing tyres off in approx 8000 miles average. There is a constant shuddering coming through the steering and the car lunges to the left hand side. In one instance the car actually caused the passenger side front tyre to buckle.

We have had the car back to the Mercedes dealership on numerous occasions to have it re-aligned etc but to no avail. I am now worried whether or not the car will pass an MOT test in its current state... Read more

How about getting the dealer to put it through an MOT or taking it to a Council run MOT station, if it fails now, there should be time to get the dealership/MB to sort it before the real MOT (and I assume the warranty runs out)

I have read a few things about auto gearboxes playing up in the A4 (i'm particularly interested in the 1.8 petrol B5 circa 1998 model) - does anyone have any specific advice or first hand experience of this please, or in a similar VAG product?

Bought a 51 plate Laguna 2 days ago. Only thing I can find wrong is the light that lights up the display for the fan/air con etc looks like it may have a loose conection. When the panel is pressed hard the light will show for a second then go off again. Before I start trying to into the back of it and break something, does this sound like an easy thing to fix?

Or...I had a scenic which did the same thing, turned out it was just some rubber lining at the front at the bonnet that was missing and water was getting around one of the spark plugs and causing problems.

I bought the car new in Nov last year and it has developed a BIG dead spot at very low speed (1st gear), usually when pulling away from junctions. The first time it happened was 14th March. Skoda have had it in twice to try and sort it; the last time they changed the accelerator pedal but didn't solve the problem.

I am a driving instructor and am using the car to teach people to drive......so far I've had two near misses & my learners are now asking what to do if the car goes 'funny' on test !!... Read more

Having already read through the forums and noticed that some Fiat's have a problem starting when hot I first changed the spark plugs which for a time seem to do the job but the problem is back on my 1.2 Fiat Bravo Trofeo W Reg, it's only intermittent and starts cold without any problems, in fact if anything it revs a little to high on the choke but after changing the plugs this has certainly calmed down, upon changing the plugs they didn't appear to be the correct ones so I ordered the ones mentioned on this site.

Could anyone help as I am at the end of my tether now and don't want to spend huge amounts of money taking it to a garage, some people I have spoken to including a retried mechanic who has actually witnessed the problem believes possible fuel starvation? but when I flood the engine after trying to start it you can certainly smell fuel, another chap who knows a little about cars wonders if it's electronic, possibly fuel sensor? Does such a thing exist and where is it best to start would try anything and be very greatful for any diagrams.

I would also like to know what the red firework/spark plug light is on the dash in the lower left corner, it came on when I first bought the car but haven't seen it since.

Thought I had found the problem the other day when the car wouldn't start, undone the petrol cap, let all the air out then the car started but I think it was a fluke to be honest!

SOS!

On starting the engine I will some times have a pumping noise (sounds like "tss tss tss") which stops when the car has wormed up. Common sense says that it would be the power stearing but it seems to always work fine.

I hope you can help Read more

Agreed it wont be easy but they are around - many are being sold/traded in as people switch from large cars to beancans to save petrol money.

Failing that a late 93-01 Mondeo 2.0 is comparable although not as refined engine wise but they are alot of car for little money now.

I am trying to remove a sunroof off a Toyota Camry. What is the correct procedure for this: I have worked through the Haynes manual on this, but it is very unhelpful. Should the roof be open on removal for example.

Also, with the interior, there are a few screws that I can't remove. What can I do to remove them: I tried WD40, and I am a little apprehensive using heat as there is interior trim in the way.... Read more
