My '98 1.25 Zetec Fiesta has recently developed a habit of "lurching" or "juddering" slightly as you move up through the gears.
Changing from 2nd to 3rd for example, at approx 3,000 revs or 30 mph, is fine on the flat, but on even slight inclines, it pulls ok, but often jumps a couple of times, as if you were trying to change up too soon. (I'm confident my foot isn't the reason!). Similar happens between 3rd & 4th. Once you reach crusing speed for the particular gear however, everything is fine... It goes nicely at top speed on the Motorway as well.
I did have a new clutch fitted about 3 months ago, but wouldn't have though this was the problem.
Any ideas folks?
Cheers
RedRoad.

Hi all,
Washed my car yesterday, rubbed my sponge over the drivers side rear alloy wheel and it started flaking in one area about 1" x 1" wide.
Considering my past experiences with BMW I'm expecting another fight on my hands but this flaking is on the inside of a spoke so it's obviously not curb damage. I have never washed the wheels with anything other than car shampoo (i.e no Wonder Wheels type chemicals).
The car is three years old today, but the bodywork warranty is 6 yrs, so my question is Are wheels normally covered by a body work warranty? Does anyone have any experience of claiming succesfully for wheels?
Thanks,
Adam

any idea on cost?
We've had some threads recently regarding dirty cars, what to use when washing them or whether to wash at all?
Just found some ideas that might save the planet's water supplies a little:

Hi everyone this is my first time on an internet forum and pulling my hair out now with my mondeo's faulty central locking.
I can lock all doors with the fob and sometimes open them but the deadlocking has packed up. I've also found that if i use the key in the drivers door it will unlock all doors ok but will only lock the drivers door. Has anybody else experienced this issue before and if so how did you manage to fix it. I've contacted my main dealer who is more than happy to have his auto electrician to look at it but i feel i may need to take a mortgage to pay for it. Read more
I think i'm going to have to do the rounds at garages again and see if they've experienced any similar issues. Although upto now all they've said is leave it with us and we'll have a look at it. Thats not so bad if they say " yeh i know what that is i've had one before , but when they say it' s £35 + per hour just to get the multi meter out i might as well give them a blank signed cheque. Thanks for responding any way.
Hello all
Can anyone recommend somewhere in Sussex (closer to Eastbourne the better) to refurbish alloy wheels?
I've Googled and found a couple of places but if anyone has personal recommendation that'd be great.
Thanks, Chris. Read more
>>Spit and Polish at Tonbridge, aimed mainly at the trade
I think they'll happily take your wheels; all they seem to ask is that they pick them up from and drop back to a trade address and not a private one.
Nice day today, sun out and birds singing in our tree. Got the Suzi V out to go for a paper...well, it is a couple of hundred yards, while SWMBO did bacon and eggs.
Pulled up at a stop sign and there was a huge crash a the nearside rear of the old girl ( car, not wife ). Looked in the mirror and saw a lycra clad jogger sliding down the passenger door into the gutter. Now, Suzi dosn't like that sort of thing so I got out to see if there was any injury. Fotunately not, there were no dents and apart from disturbing the muck, ( he'll be no stranger to the washing machine today ) the paintwork was OK. In the meantime, our kamikaze jogger had fired a mouthful of lewd abuse in my direction and made good his escape. I have never seen anyone limp at such a speed. I reported the incident as a RTA in case he 'threw a seven' during the night. The lads at the nick had good laugh !
If I knew where he lived, I could go and run into his car...my 16 stone could do a bit of serious damage !
I suppose all those friends of Coronary Care will be coming out now, Joggers, Squash and Golf players, etc.
At least, I can be proud to say I had my Myocardial Infarction the proper way, 4 frames of snooker, 4 pints o Websters bitter with crisps and a little activity at home later !
The only way to go !

Recent trips to Buxton: 1. bike overtook, as our car and another in the opposite direction passed, just after the Cat and Fiddle pub. Jam in sandwich I think its called. Completely unnecessary. 2. On way up to said pub, bike flew by, with rear number plate hinged up to avoid detection. Police ought to just try the number plates occasionally, on the pub car park:) I expect they'll discover a number of offences by the criminal minority. To add a little balance, most of the bikes were well and patiently ridden. But the moronic element need sorting out.
Jus come back along the A45 in Northants with a white dust hanging over the road. Eventually caught up with a gritter throwing loads of damp but dusty salt onto the road.
Is this the 'new' salt they bought when they run out in the snow in Feb? It covered the car and wheels, looks much more harmful by the way it gets everywhere. Read more
Looked the car over tonight as it hasn't been used since we got back 2 days ago, and where mositure has got into the white 'dust' it has marked the paint. Washed and polished it so hopefully no permanent damage.
However, if the councils have tonnes of this stuff bought as a panic buy, it may not be used agaian til the autumn. It definitlyl is less friendly to cars than the more commonly used 'grit'.
ok i've only just got this car and it really lacks power i struggle to get it up to 70 and if you want that little bit more you just gotta hope you heading down hill or on a flat road i just want to know if anyone can suggest what could be wrong as surely this car has more power then that. it drives brilliant just has lost its power Read more
anyone else get any idea's on this

Hi Jon
Looks as though i've had a satisfactory outcome for once. To cut a very long story short, a BMW main dealer looked at my wheels and confirmed they had been painted. BMW head office then confirmed this is not acceptable and the supplying dealership should not have done this.
BMW head office has now got the supplying dealer to pay for me to have 4 x brand new alloy wheels fitted by my local dealership........ Good customer service at last!
Woo Hoo!
