The raised toe adjuster is not obvious - there is a bolt screwed into the end of the (parallel) ball pin which enables the height of the pin to be adjusted relative to the knuckle. It's locked with the pinch bolt.

Sophisticated German machinery will not live up to expectations when handled as you describe...

If Hamilton did not tell the truth he was wrong and should apologize to Trulli. Now it seems that Trulli told an untruth as well.
I think that Hamilton drove brilliantly and deserved 3rd place, he should have won at Spa last year but was robbed by the officials. If it was Raikkonen nothing would have happened. I still don't understand why Barachello was not punished for driving into 2 cars.
Hamilton says he was only obeying orders, you would think this would be accepted, especially by Max Mosley of all people.

I've also got same issue....tried new turbo and glow plugs and starter motor but didn't solve the problem! So don't bother with those!

I have owned the car from new and in the 4 plus years I have had gear failures four times. Each time it has righted itself after a time (From a few mins to an hour or so.)
The dash shows the N neutral setting but the car is in gear but this is not always the case. The local garage "updated" the gearbox under warranty just before it was 3yrs.
but no further information was given about the problem. The car was bought in Nov. 2004 and has a 1.4 diesel engine. I would like to know what is causing this. Read more

Hi Jerry,
There were sadly a number of issues relating to the dreaded MMT system, I really need to know what has been done to the vehicle in the past, I may also need to know what ECU (part no printed on ecu) is fitted to your car, as well as any other countermeasures that may or may not have been fitted. I can find most of this from your vehicle reg number, although it's not a good idea to post it on here! Hmmm a tricky one, as I can't really give you my works Email address without giving the game away so to speak! You can however Email me on my private address, which is bladerunner042000@yahoo.co.uk
and i'll take a look at what I can find out for you. NB have you had any warning lamps illuminated on your dashboard at any time? Sadly I can't post all the answers on these boards as a lot of the info is 'strictly private and confidential' so I will have to email you direct with what I find.
Regards
Dave

cold start problem, when the engine is cold ie left overnight when i come to start it, 1st crank, engine coughs once, 2nd crank, turns over but does not fire 3rd crank i push the throttle to the floor and whilst cranking the engine coughs and splutters then starts.
the car runs great for the rest of the day starting first time every time even after being left for around 3 hours. i have been told it could be the crankshaft sensor, another person said the cold start sensor, what do you think, please help thanks. Read more

get it hooked up and diagnoised on a computer first otherwise you could be just waisting money on stuff it dont need.....also you shouldnt need to touch the throttle pedal on a subaru if you do the ecu shuts down the injectors to prevent the cylinders flooding.

Afternoon,

Not my car this time but it is the same (golf gti 8 valve)

Anyway my cousins car has a damp patch on the carpet behind the drivers seat. He couldn't work out why, so i got underneath and there is a whopping great hole an the floor. Its right next to a sort of rubber drain plug?
It is quite big (i can get 4 fingers in there and feel the carpet)
The car is due a MOT shortley. Will this be a fail?
Can it be welded? The hole is next to 3 lines (fuel line and brake line i assumme)
or can we get some of that sticky metal sheet and put that over it? (wil it pass the MOT like this?)

With regards to the welding, will it be a expensive job?

Depends on the position of the hole in relation to main fore and aft structure and crossmembers;if it is more than 3" away,it should pass.If it is OK,then a small sheet of steel or ali and pop-rivets.If less than 3",it must be welded.

I usually do A316 twickenham, Kew FLY OVER a40 to Kings cross and then up a501
will either of these events be typically troublesome -cheers Read more

I have had protected no-claim bonus for years, assuming it to be a Good Thing but not actually paying much attention to it. I tend not to make claims - none for over 5 years -so do not put it to the test very much. Protection pushes up premiums, although the policy details do not say by how much, only that NCB is covered for only one claim per year. I wonder if, in any case, that claim would not result in an increased premium next period, explained perhaps as an age-related increase. Is NCB in fact worthwhile? Read more

daveyjp

It's like any insurance - you pay for it or you don't - from my experience it costs £20-30 more a year. I have never bothered. I've only ever had one claim which reduced my NCB by 2 years.

The year after I claimed current insurer wanted a large increase on the premium I had paid before the accident. Shopping around I secured cover for less than I paid before the accident and this with 2 years less NCB.
