Hi,
I have used a couple of web sites (What Car and Parkers) to seek a trade in value for the car and this does not seem to match with what traders are offering. I have had one suggest that the car is worth between £2-2.5k, whereas the guides seem to indicate something aroung £3.5k. Does this seem a fair valuation? The car has done 44k and is in very good condition with full dealer history.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hey guys,
I own a 1991 Suzuki Swift coupe 1.0.
It has some oil leaks and I need to check the oil from time to time, always putting a bit to compensate for the leaks.
I'm an absolute ignorant regarding cars.
Yesterday, I put TOO MUCH.
Went to work, but after 2 blocks the car started smoking from the exhaust and from the air filter. I turn it off immediately. I pushed it back home.
I need to know how high are the chances I ruined my car for good.
Tomorrow I'll drain all the oil and put back some new one.
Do you reckon that's enough? I mean, after I change the oil, can I just drive it (if it starts)?
Thank you very much guys, I'm pretty freaked out, for I have no money to repair it or buy another one !

Can any one give me advice on an accident I was envoled in yesterday.
I had left a large roundabout 200 yds down the road previously & had indicated a left turn to exit as you would.
200 yds down a major road is a tee junction with a large exit & entry as there normally is on a busy road to maintain flow of traffic when approaching this tee junction & have passed the beginning of the exit & travelling at a speed that was within the limit (30) I was shocked to see someone pull out in front of me.
I applied the brakes but with probably only 10 foot to stop failed to do so & ended up crashing into the middle of said car.
I got out the other driver got out of the passenger door of the car (as the drivers door would not open) & screamed you was indicating to turn left.
I was not aware that my indicator had not cancelled as I said earlier the roundabout I had left earlier is a large one where upon you more or less drive straight off with no correction in steering so as not knocking off indication.
In the highway code it states never assume a car coming from the right signalling to turn left will actually do so only move when you are sure they are making that move.
Who is at fault.

Quick assessment over the toast...
Both to blame.
Is that legally, or morally?
In today's busy traffic conditions, waiting until you're absolutely sure of another driver's intentions could give rise to huge congestion problems.
Doing so may well be a 'counsel of perfection', so I do have a bit of sympathy with the 'other driver'.
Many people here bemoan the lack of correct indicator use on roundabouts - but what's the point in indicating left before your exit if folk wishing to join at the next 'branch' don't believe you!!
Am pondering buying a VW bora(diesel more likely).
Have read great reviews of the td model on peach or lemon........any readers here got one and if so any pointers what to watch for.....and would you recommend one? Read more
I have two friends who eventually bought a Bora after travelling in mine - both insisted on the same Reflex Silver finish...:-)
The first was someone who was looking for a car on lease, the second a housewife with a young family who realised that the Bora offered far more protection for her offspring in the (hopefully unlikely) event of an accident than in the car she was driving at the time.
Even one of the offspring, a Ford stalwart, cottoned on to the fact that the Bora was very stable, firmly planted on the road and ended up buying a souped up Golf...:-)
Just been browsing a well know auction web site for all things (including cars) and spotted some 7 series for what seem to be very reasonable prices.
There are some examples at www.bigmotorworld.co.uk (no connection in any way I hasten to add).
Plenty of 05/06/07 cars with lowish miles (under 40k) for less than £20k.
A lot of car for the money but would they make a good buy or be a money pit? Read more
What do you drive now & how bearable are the servicing bills? It's all relative. I'd budget at £2000+ a year for tyres, servicing and maintenance, anything you don't spend put in an accrual fund, which you can use as a deposit on it's replacement if it isn't needed.
You may be lucky and have 2 years at £600 but then the suspension might need replacing and cost £1000. Tyres are likely to be £1000 a set too and the rears will only do 15k miles in any of them with the V8 engine (with the V8 being which is part of the attraction) If this bothers you, this isn't the car for you, these cars are £70k new and aren't cheaper to run than a £70k car at any point in their lifespan unless you can do work yourself.
My old boss at work was horrified at spending £180 servicing her Focus, I routinely spend £800+ on my Porsche and it doesn't phase me as I'm used to it.
It's all up to your view on how much you're willing to spend on maintenance without it spoiling your enjoyment of the car.
Hello, i am planning to set up a motor trading LTD at my home address, I do not know where i should start ? Do i need to register my home address as a company ? And then apply for a motor trade license or either get a motor trade insurance ? Could anyone tell me what i should do first?

Indeed - no need for a new thread. Bump the old one up if you want.

Very sporting. One of the go-karts was in seriously fluffy tune though. That hesitation low down was more dangerous than doing 100 a bit earlier, I thought.
Everyone having a good time though. Yeee-hah!

Ok, ive been asked to come up with a shortlist of cars to look at for a friend as she has a 2002 Golf GTi and after its 15th trip to the dealer for yet another problem she has given up and sold it. I shall say no more about that aspect of it to save feelings of VAG lovers.
Anyhow, she said to me ok, you said VW not so reliable anymore and you werent wrong, so what should I buy, give me a shortlist to look at.
I know I know, dangerous territory but I said ill have a look up and see what models fall within her criteria.
Her main request is something that doesnt have any common faults, which having trawled through the CBC isnt many cars - some have fewer than others but few have almost none. She is looking to buy in the £4k price range so its going to be something 2000-2003 age roughly.
Aside from almost total reliability, she wants something with a bit of pep similar to the Golf and a 5dr hatch of similar size, something a little sporty looking but not OTT.
Or she wants something similar to a Freelander ( I told her not to even go there with the real deal ).
Heres the shortlist I came up with:
Nissan Almera 1.8, Mazda 323 2.0 Sport, Honda HRV 5dr and a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 diesel or petrol.
Now I know from my sisters experience that the Suzuki is a sound choice if not brilliant driving, but anyone vouch for the others, especially on reliability?
She said if one more engine management light comes on a sledgehammer will come into play!
My Favorite of that list is the Mazda as it seems you can get good examples for well within her budget and the CBC has no faults of note listed for it. Read more

"I'd try the 'value my car' feature on trhe Vauxhall website, this uses Glass's figures and is probably more real world in terms of figures"
And if trading in at a Vauxhall dealer take a printout with you. Worked for me - dealer honoured the valuation.
