Grand. Diesel. 75000 miles. My oil pipe broke last sunday covering the underside and rear of the car in oil; I got the car home (2 miles, most probably should'nt have); oil pipe now repaired and car goes (can get to 70mph slowly) but no no acceleration to speak of and decelarates going up hill. Turbo? Some blackish smoke out of the exhaust when changing gear and trying to accelerate - could be oil residue burning itslef off? also engine misfires/pinks/shudders at around 20/30mph when accelerating.
Not a car expert but any suggestions please as having read the renault espace vol 1 and 2 some of these problems may apply. Have genuinely had few problems with this car and it has done what it says on the bottle. Read more
Can anyone tell me the cylinder compression specification and tolerance limits for the HDI 110 or where I can find these other than asking a Citroen dealer? Read more

Hi Roly, Thanks for the question, I sleep as well as any Jaguar or any other luxury car owner (comparable MPG). The days of all Cadillacs being gas guzzlers are coming to an end....the Americans are having to buy oil on the international market as well as the UK.
I dont use my cts to nip down to the chip shop. I am fortunate enough to have a wee biscuit tin of a runaround for short trips. On a run I can get up to 25 mpg driving sensibly even with air con. running.
Hi Freelander owners. I have plastic wheel bolt covers which grip on the bolt heads. The wheels are standard steel ones.
I keep losing these covers, pretty sure they're not being pinched! Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution. Maybe there's some easybreak sealant which would hold them on but could be broken when the wheel needs to come off? Read more

Hi all
I am hoping to get some advice from some experienced professional painters out there. I recently scrapped the side of my car on the gate post and used the insurance companies approved repairer to get it sorted. The car has come back and i'm not happy with the paintwork. Along the bottom of the door, the paintwork had a dry and uneven appearance (it was glossy but with an uneven surface which you could feel). The second point was that at the back, when you look closely at the surface inthe right light, you can see little black dots in the paint ( i pointed them out to the garage and they recon that they are the pigment of the paint - for a red car ?). They have polished the bottom of the door but its still not brilliant. Is this garage just fobbing meoff with the pigment thing ?, its certainly not anywhere on the rest of the car and only localised on the repair area.
Cheers

Had car for 2 years, after 6 months with about 60,000 on it the oil pressure light came on and found out turbo casing had cracked.Had new turbo fitted under warranty.A year later after finding an oil leak a new intercooler and oil cooler were fitted under warranty.4 months on with no warning lights or anything the engine seized.Got a recon engine but when engine was put in and started everything seemed ok but over 1000rpm the low oil pressure light comes on,pressure switch was changed and no leaks but still the same.Garage say it could be the oil pump ? Could the ECU need reset after the engine seizing and its giving a false reading ? would it need a mazda diagnostic machine test ? ANY HELP would be most welcome to get car on the road . Read more
Hi guys,
Does anyone know if the ABS toothed ring on the front drive shaft can be replaced as one of mine has rusted off and activated the ABS warning light.

Changed the reluctor ring today - about 3 hrs work. Not too difficult a job .
I enjoyed this but am confused by HJ's description of the sequential turbos on the 3.0d. I thought with this set up the smaller low inertia turbo kicks in first with the larger turbo kicking in at higher revs.I know this is how the set up in the Beemer twin turbo Diesels works so why does the Jag have the large turbo coming in first? I have asked one of the mods to pass my email address onto yourself.
Done.
Can anyone lay their hands on the correct data for the front wheel alignment (tracking) setting for an Audi A4, 1.9tdi estate, 1999 model?
Thanks in advance. Read more
The raised toe adjuster is not obvious - there is a bolt screwed into the end of the (parallel) ball pin which enables the height of the pin to be adjusted relative to the knuckle. It's locked with the pinch bolt.
Sophisticated German machinery will not live up to expectations when handled as you describe...

Hi all
Have got similar symptoms of no acceleration/lack of power and it takes along time to build up speed.
We have not had any oil leaks previous to this.
But the heater light warning comes up followed by the words SERVICE before it returns to the time. This now comes on a short time after starting and occasionally during a journey. The lack of power is not as much as the EGR valve as have had this in the past. It seems something is putting it into limp mode but what??
Last work carried out was replacement of inj number 4 about a month ago and was running great.
