Yes I have been stupid. I had both my partners car and my car to fill with fuel, mine is diesel 206 HDI 2L and hers is a 1.8 petrol. took my HDI first and put 20 L of unleaded in. Did not realise and drove home about a mile (no prplem up to now)and still not realising I had used the wrong fuel. Filled her car with the correct fuel. Came to start mine the next morning and it just miss fired and spluttered. I realised immeadiatly what I had done. I drained the tank by disconnecting the pipe from the fillter and used the lift pump in the tank to empty the fuel. While I was at it I changed the fuel fillter complete with housing and put 20 L of clean diesel in. It has failed to start since. Incase I had damaged the clip on pipes on the filter housing I replaced these too. Still will not start.
Any help would be great. Thanks John Read more

Hi,

my 2.0 HDi SX started bouncing recently, so checking the forums it appeared the first port of call was to change the spheres.

The rear suspension seems fine but its the front which appears to have the problem.

I've changed the 2 wheel spheres as directed, performed the 'citrerobics' - up and down 5 times.

The problem now is that the front suspension doesn't raise or lower to the normal ride height.
If i select Max height - the car will rise to the full height
If i select Min height - the car will fall to the lowest level.

The rear suspension moves back to the normal ride height when i select it, but the front won't go. IF I am at Max the front will stay at Max, if I am Min, the front will stay at Max

The LHM level (from what I can tell) is high - at the Max height the indicator is above the higher of the two red rings.

From the myriad of posts and problems, I'm getting a bit bogged down in what i should do next.

Can anybody advise what is best to do next?

Cheers

Steve

Thanks for the advise all, in the end it was the plastic link - £2.40 from the citroen garage!!

If anybody else is new to this and would like some advice - be prepared for the fiddliest little job you'll ever probably do....lol.

Access to the where the clip goes is ridiculous in the extreme (IMO)

Make sure you lube up the 2 coils with plenty of WD40/grease first before attaching the new clip and try and free the coils up a bit first....trust me, it'll save you some time.

Finally, do this job on ramps. You need to have the body weight on the wheels/suspension. The clip wasn't lined up with the metal clip on the roll bar so by using a hydraulic jack, we where able to raise/lower the front end accordingly to make sure the clip was in the right place to attach to the metal clip

And the advice about the French Car forum guys was spot on - they are a knowledgable bunch and quick to get back to you!!!

regards

Steve

I have been told I have front brake judder - I think it is the cold kind. Was told the back brakes also had judder and the discs and pads needed replacement - would the replacement have been required as a result of the judder? Should this be covered under warranty? I purchased the car from a dealer with a 12 month warranty. Thanks. Read more

Could be bearings - only way to know for sure is to get car checked by someone you trust and knows what they are doing (or yourself if mechanically adept)...Jack up front wheel (preferably use axle stands) and see if brakes are making noise or if it is bearings...Brakes problems tend to sound like scraping and bearings a drone if you can spin the wheel fast enough..or it could be both?
Some slight increase in noise when turning under load can be expected on most cars, but normally very subtle. A loud grating needs checking.

Story from Cape Town...
This weekend saw some horrendous winds blowing - still howling outside, and hasn't stopped since Saturday.
Last night a huge tree was blown over onto the road, missing a motorist "by inches".
She had just braked, as there is a speed camera there, and she wanted to bring her speed down to 60km/h!

In a similar vein does the number of crashed indicate that those who can buy these should be banned from doing so!

Speaking of idiots (sorry Portugese footballers) someone has posted photos of a Red Ferrari crashed in a Manchester tunnel on wreckedexotics.

How do you do that much damage - limit is 50 and I guess he hit the brakes straight away so how fast was he really going!

Looks like foreign plates as well!

I guess Manchester footballers don't get done for dangerous driving in Manchester!

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? tends to be more noisy when the temperature is low and only at low speeds. I think it is coming more from the rear rather than the front. The car is still in warranty (just) so if it's something that I can claim for that would help. Read more

If you look up into where the relays and the fuses are in your car, Look for a relay labelled up as 109, if it is black then you need to replace it with an upgraded grey one from VW, the relay is mounted on a PCB, after a long time the soldered joint cracks, if you can solder, re-flow the joint and keep the relay as a spare.
Hope this helps.

What would you recommend as your favourite car-related television show? Try and think beyond Top Gear as it's really more of an entertainment show but if it really is your favourite, by all means cast your vote!

I think the Used Car Roadshow was pretty good before they copied the TG-style studio & audience set-up. I've seen a few good programmes featuring Mike Brewer but these seem only to be shown on sky, along with Auto Mundial et al.

As I said, try look beyond TG and for that matter Fifth Gear as it has basically become a clone, although I am under the impression that both have improved (slightly) recently. In any case, I'd still rather watch Road Wars! Read more

My xtype 2.0d Classic does not have an onboard computer. Is there anyway to enable this? Im surprised to see a car costing this much doesnt have one. Read more

I recently had an argument with some black ice and lost which resulted in my car skidding into a 1ft high concrete verge. The passenger size copped it. Damage was not horrendous and car is still drivable. Front bumper obviously smashed and passenger wing got bent and wheel was pushed back a little bit. Apparently the chassis leg has got a bit bent. Not being a car mechanic this means nothing to me so can anyone explain what this bit is, where, etc and how does it get fixed. Read more

Yep, new wing and front bumper. Have been told that it will need to go on a jig to get complete wheel alignment. Insurance approved garage said it could be repaired but due to the cost of labour was classed as a 'total loss'. Have been given a cash settlement so can take to another garage to get fixed. Car is an 02.

Just wanted to know really what the chassis leg was so thank you for your reply. Am a little bit clearer now.
