Hi there, is there any way of getting safety information on older cars (pre NCAP).
Curious on how a 98 Honda Shuttle would stand up in the event of a bump. It has driver & passenger airbags, and steel bars in the doors... but how would this compare with all of the 5* NCAPS on the road these days?
Any comments gratefully received.
Many thanks,

The worst is "Psychomania", british film from the 70's with Nicky Henson. oops sorry thats about motorbikes. SORRY
I've got a 1998 Fiesta 1.25 LX (zetec) that seems to have a running problem at about 3000 rpm in all gears. It becomes juddery and needs some time to rev any higher. The power from then on also seems a bit poor.
Any advice?
Thanks

I have a deauville motorcycle 650cc. When I changed the coolant it came out as dirty: it was brown in colour. Is this something to worry about or not?
It has covered 24000 miles, and it is an ex transport police bike. I am not too sure about its history as it came with no service history.
Please advise.
Thanks

From experience on cars, if someone mixes pink coolant with the older blue/green it goes a dirty brown quite quickly and they are not supposed to be mixed. Most modern (2002+) coolant is pink/red and low silicate with a longer service life and can be used as a new fill. Give it a flush and get new coolant from a Honda dealer.
Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a nearly new 3-series (325i or 330d) and keep reading on the forums that there are some great deals around at the moment. Can anyone suggest the best place to find a bargain?
Thanks. Read more
Saw an advert in one of the Sunday mags introducing the new Peugeot 4007, the company's first 4x4. Looks very aggressive with it's big shark mouth grille. Advert says it uses more fuel in 2wd. To my eye it makes a Ssangyong Musso look cute. 19inch alloys with low profile tyres...not for off-road and probably a bad idea for some of our pot-holed roads locally. At £24000, an expensive way to get the kids to school !

Strange, the advert made it look as though they were introducing a new model. I'll dig the mag out of the re-cycle bin tomorrow and see what it says...it was a double page spread. I can't say I've ever seen one on the road.

For the first time in 35+ years of motoring, I saw a group of young teenagers running across a motorway yesterday. I was driving west on the M65 near Blackburn as darkness fell, when 4 youths in dark clothing ran down the embankment, nipped across 3 lanes, then waited between the barriers before (presumably) continuing their journey. And the traffic was quite heavy at the time.

There's a similar warning of 'pedestrians crossing' on the A1 not far south of it's junction with the M62 - I wouldn't attempt it.
hi, in the market for a car for a bit of weekend fun due to running diesel during week to work.. must be 4 seater.. got it down to the above? any advice on which one or something different. have upto 4k, cheers Read more
Skoda Fabia VRS Diesel - now that WOULD be a fun car!
A friend has one of these, and they are amazingly good fun, but you'd be looking at a fairly rough one for £4k, and the handling isn't in the same league as the Renault or Ford. Too much weight up front.
My money would still be on the Clio. Had the Volvo not come up when it did for the price it did, I would have probably bought one myself last year. The spec is fairly basic so not too much to go wrong, and both Renaults I've had long term experience with have been good cars in any case.
I know most of us have been tempted to use our cars to take our cows on holiday, down the park, to the shops and so on but then thought better of it.

And here comes smokie to creosote them.
I have been looking at 03/05 BMW 3 & 5, I have also sat in passats of the same age and I feel like the rear view mirror is right in my eyeline (even with seat lowered etc) when I look forward I am looking at the sun visor.
Is this a problem any one else has experienced? I am worrying about nothing?
Consequently I am looking at a lexus rx instead, any other suggetsion (budget 5-7k)
I current drive an 02 polo

"...the wipers will be pointing the wrong way, leaving the corner in front of the driver's eyes unswept..."
I thought this too prior to my purchase, but the wipers (for want of a better expression) use an extending arm mechanism. This significantly reduces the unswept area and I've never found it to be an issue.

Thank you very much Captain.
No Shuttle on there, but I searched on "folksam" and "honda shuttle" and found this other, slightly older site:
