The remote locking on my Focus is very intermittent, sometimes it can work from 30 metres, other times it wont work until i've pressed the button 5 or so times. Could this be the battery, if so which way is the cheapest to replace the battery?

Thanks Read more

Can new suspension springs of a different spec be fitted to existing shocks? I want to fit slightly lower springs as there's a little too much of a gap between the wheels and arches. I've heard fitting lower springs, but with the same amount of coils, just closer together can lower the car but not affect the ride. Hmmmm. Please enlighten me Read more

I have a Peugeot 407 SW from new, 33,000 miles on clock. Main diesel pump was recently replaced under extended warranty. It has come back with noisy ( high pitched)cooling fan and cigarette lighter not working. Now unable to charge sat nav whilst driving.

Fan wasn't noisy before and lighter worked.

Would replacing diesel pump cause these new problems. All advice appreciated.

Thanks. Read more

The cigar lighter may be a blown fuse - check your handbook for the exact one.

The cooling fan may have suffered from being removed for access to the pump. I'd take it back and let them rectify it.

Advantage of the HP Deskjet 920C are the heads are in the cartridges so the entire thing can be replaced if needed - they are just expensive. That's why I got rid of my 920c a few years back and got a Canon Pixma IP5000. But for your needs this might be better.

Sounds like you have a few options! The Laserjet 1020 is likely to be fine otherwise.

Just seen Lewis had 98 points this season. To put that in perspective, Martin Brundle got 98 points over a career. Yes Lewis has one of the best cars but he has talent.

With the cars being reliable and more evently matched these days I still think it will be difficult for anyone to pass Schuey's record 7 titles. Who remembers when cars used to run out of fuel on the very last part of the race (no refuelling then) and they'd even try pushing the car! Or is that me imagining they actually tried that on the finish straight. Read more

1 who came from indy/cart/champ in the last 40 years who was any good. His
son was rubbsih tho..
All the rest is usless F1 drivers going to the states as they couldnt get
drives in F1

Andretti of course, and Villeneuve (J)... but the really sucessful ones in Indy/Cart/Nascar haven't been F1 rejects either, or could be bothered to even try in F1, there is no reason for them to do so... but that doesn't make them any better or worse than F1 drivers, though.

If you go back to the 50s and 60s when the Indy500 was part of the WC there were very few F1 drivers who tried Indy and were sucessful, most were middle runners... the ones that did succeed were the best around in F1 anyhow.

You have not given me any reason to change my view that the majority of F1 drivers are no better than the majority of Indy/Cart/Nascar drivers, AE, and I doubt that there are any stats that will help you... There are exceptional drivers in all four formulas, though, but as to which is the best, that would be pretty well impossible to decide...

can you please help
My golf 1900 tdi is loosing water from header tank, it never over heats as I always top it up as soon as the warning light comes on. I dont think it is the head gasket as I can drive it over 120 miles and it does not get hot. The water comes out of the header tank so I was thinking it may be a faulty cap, and it always seems to have a lot of pressure when I remove the cap, even after a few seconds of running. is it best to replace the cap or has anybody got any ideas on the subject .

Also allow the tyres to adhere themselves to the rims properly before performing F1 style launches from the lights. Failure to do so can affect the wheel balancing as the wheels / tyres won't necessarily be in the same alignment anymore.

My 2004 1.9 DCI has started to sound like tractor when first started in the morning also has started to have poor MPG.

Have changed Oil&Filter and air filter at regular intervals. Once warmed up it runs fine for the day, but strugles to do 40mpg when it used to average 50ish.

Help would be much appreciated. Read more
