I was recently driving in France and entered a tunnel, some matrix signs, lit up with a red circle on a black background with a ₡ symbol. Can any of the knowledgeable folk here tell me what it is (though I suspect it?s an impending fine).
(The signs were just like those ones that tell you that you are going too fast and flash up the speed limit.)

As you have seen in the news lately about drivers stranded in snow. For those who have to drive long distances in this foul weather it is advisable to have the following in the car :-
spare coat, blanket, fully charged mobile phone, a shovel, water, chocolate bars etc in case if you get stuck in the snow and can't get help immediate help. I have only listed few things.
Also advice having a tank full of fuel in case you have to have the engine running for heat. If there are several stranded then it makes sense for all to get into one car and use the fuel of one car.
I case anyone complains your health well being is more important than the environment when you are sitting there stuck with the engine running Read more
Oh,,,, saved the snow link (as suggested in the link address "snow emergency" weird)
In the last couple of days the car has developed a medium pitch 'screech' on start up that last for two seconds immediately following engine start/key release. Once started the car drives fine.
I've yet to look and listen under the bonnet as can only get an assistant tomorrow. Grateful if anyone has had similar experience or can suggest a likely cause.
Thanks in advance.

This was a Mototronic single point injector and as such does not have a choke. It does however use the temp sensor to tel the ECU what it requires to do and it may be that sensor that is at fault. What make you shink the choke is on ?? Regards Peter

Check the water level first and if that's all right, maybe consider the heater control valve on the bulkhead.

The throttle could by fly-by-wire (not sure on this model) and if so the clutch pedal will have a position sensor whch if faulty I guess could effect the throttle to the extent that it may rev when in neutral and not when you depress the clutch.
Ford dealer as Aprilia says.
i have an astra 1.7td p reg can anyone tell me if it it a gm or isuza engine as i have no books with this car thanks Read more
The GM engine has the fuel injection pump and injectors on the front side of the engine (as you look). In the case of the Isuzu they're fitted at the rear.
The GM engine has the word 'DIESEL' on the rocker cover. The Isuzu has the word 'TURBO' in red letters.
The Isuzu engine does appear to have two air filters. In fact though it only has one. The box on the o/s inner wing does not contain a filter element......
I am considering buying a 2005 Corolla 1.6 VVTi Auto but I am concerned at some reports I have heard that these VVTi engines tend to develop heavy oil consumption at about 40K miles.
As a result of some customers complaining of using 1Ltr of oil per 600 miles, apparently Toyota stated that acceptable consumption is 1Ltr per 1000 miles, which I would still consider very high for a modern low mileage car.
Has anyone got details of experience of this please or can possibly give me more reassuring info.

Desmond why can't you put the year and model in the subject line as prompted three time before you post ? Read more
