I have been trying to fathom out a problem with my water temperature gauge. The water temperature has never risen above 90oc on the guage. According to the owners manual normal operating coolant temperature should be half way on the gauge (95oc)
Could this be the temperature sender, and does anyone know if they are prone to failure on these Corsa's? Or is this just another great Vauxhall flaw!
Thanks
{Car make/model excluded from the header as this is put in by the choice you made from the drop down menu. Thanks for putting in year and engine details - quite a few don't. Have added a brief summary of the nature of your car's problem, as you failed to submit that for some reason} Read more
There are numerous internet companies that claim to be able to find you the cheapest insurance, but I haven't come across any that will find you the best quality insurance. What I want is good quality insurance. Why does nobody advertise insurance on the basis of quality? They do with every other product.

I have found no link what so ever to the price I pay as to the service I have recived. Therefore I am quite proud to shop on price to proved otherwise.
I have found two things worthy of mention ....legal cover in my case was next to useless and so this is purchased from cover from a motoring organisation at the same price but I feel more comfotable with their set up.
I avoid any insurance companies where possible who use one particular firm of glass suppliers .
My daughters insurance was due renewal recently. Her quote from current insurer was not acceptable, so she negotiated a £30 discount afer saying she would go elsewhere. She got a quote from another company (A&L) which was a bit lower than her current discounted quote. So, she went for it. She received a letter requesting proof on NCD.......but in addition, the new company asked for written proof of the lower quote. If she couldn't supply it, the company would actually charge her her current companies original non-discounted quote. Their excuse was that she could have just plucked a figure out of her imagination. Excuse me, but I thought insurance was based on risk and if the company (taking into account age, location, car type NCD history etc) calculated the risk they arrived at a figure acceptable to them, i.e. a bet.

I think you will find that the Terms and Conditions go in to this.
Simply cannot see where the 'Scam' is.

Sometimes when returning to the car it just won't start and you can leave it then it starts.
When this first happend the fuel pump was replaced had the car back for a day and it happend again anyway about 8 months ago the car was so called fixed apparently the problem was a little red button on the top right of the engine bay?
Reading on various forums it appers that the ignition relay is the problem most of the time could anyone tell me its location?
Im no mechanic but in the past on some old XR Sierra's when the relay went running a wire from the battery to the pump allowed it to start is this safe to do just as a test?

If its any help, the ECU failed completely on my 306 hdi 1999, requiring a new circuit board at £500 ish. Also had the lift fuel pump in tank fail, airbag light flashing due to dodgy wiring, dodgy wiring to electric mirrors, broken front suspension spring, silly soft rear suspension on estate, most of which are renowned common faults I've read from various places.
Have you had the ECU read to see if any faults recorded...
Mine broke down after a holiday - and turns out the fuel cutoff switch had been activated (sounds like your little red button) as all the breakdown man did was press a button. Then broke down again somewhere down the M6 (ECU see above).
You could always try taking the fuel line off and turning the engine over to see if fuel is coming from tank. Also find a really GOOD diesel specialist, I've found normal garages aren't generally really very good at diesels...
I changed the oil and filter on my car and have since had problems starting from cold, takes 10-15 seconds.Could the viscosity of oil used cause this?(Halvoline 15w 40 used) Read more
It could be the cold weather affecting the car starting. One of my tractors hasn't wanted to start in the last few days, I have had to order a new battery, £114+VAT, day light robbery!
Also I would have used a thinner oil as has been said above.
Recently i bought a 2000-W reg Fiat fiorino 1.7TD van, and i was wondering if these later vans still have the infamous red keys as i know that Fiat did away with the red key systems around 1999/2000. I am asking as i only received one blue key with the van, and would like to know if i can get a copy made without having to pay main dealer prices, or fit a whole new immobiliser/ecu system. The blue key doesnt have any numbers on it, but does have a circle and triangle on it if that helps?.
Many thanks for your advice in advance :) Read more
I have sorted this. The key was copied by a company called Access Locksmiths in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear. I have to say they were perfect and charged me only £20 for a new key and the coding :)
No kick down at all!!! However if you floor it from stationery it seems to be fine. Also if you manually change it down to 1/2/3/4 it is fine. Is there a kickdown sensor or something?
Gearbox is smooth.
Any suggestions would be great! Read more
My area is plagued with speed cushions and humps...even the places I work have the things. It is well known that they damage cars so which models cope bets with them? Read more
The ride seems to be soft enough not to crush most of the bones. Rib cages do tend to suffer, though.

I have a VW Passet Y reg (2001) 1.9 TDi-over the past two months I have an error message Workshop Engine with coil warning light-which last for 5 seconds with a audible warning beep.
I have had it on a diagnostic computer but it cannot diagnose fault.
The fault occurs about once a week but does not appear to affect the running of the car.
The garage owner said that only when the car will not go or the power reduces to the extent that the car will only do 30-40 mph will he be able to pin point the fault-he believes that it is a loose sensor causing the problem.
Any Ideas please on my next step please.
year and engine varient inserted into subject line.....no trouble at all, neither was writing the three reminders that you see whilst posting.

Try another garage.
hi room , what would one expect to pay for a bit of welding to be done, particularly i need a bit doing around the seat belt anchor points underneath for the MOT , the garage wants £160 to do a wheel bearing , 2 new brake discs , a new number plate and the welding , ive done all the jobs apart from the welding, would £40 sound about right? Sounds cheap really when you think that the garage needs to recover its overheads ,as well as labour.
Is a 1991 car worth repairing ? Will it be worse next year? I got £200 trade in for a 1.3 Escort 2 years ago, so they are 'not valuable'
But while it moves, it does its job, sort of.

Plus its a diesel which are more thermally efficient. I know when its sub zero and I'm idling at the lights the temp gauge actually starts to drop slowly.
