Views please. Saab (J) reg 2.3 turbo Carlsson special. 2 owners. Last one from nearly new. 80k miles (genuine) and 2k recently spent on engine allegedly, although I haven't yet seen that bill. Apparently all invoices are with the car too.
What is its likely worth and does it go like stink as suggested to me. How does it compare with a T5.
In anticipation of your help......and a cure for constipation I have been told!!!!!!...........Over to you.

I have just got hold of a second hand c15 (x 2000). Can anyone tell me if the heating/vent/fan controls should be lit up when the head lights are on?
Thanks

We had a much older C15 van (1989 F reg) and the heater controls didn't light up.

As a tea addict, I read this with much interest. I think I might be going cold turkey...
Italian coffee certainly keeps me awake when I drive over there, but it also makes me feel ropey. The indigestion thing and the headaches make it feel like you've drunk a bottle of wine rather than had a coffee.
This morning I followed firstly a new Passat estate and then a new Leon. Both of these cars have the latest 'LED' type lights, with the Leon's being particularly small - the actual lit area is somewhat smaller than the glass area. It struck me that the rear lights on these cars are more for show than their real purpose. There was bright sunshine on the back of the cars and from anything other than directly behind, the lights were difficult to see. I've noticed before on new Passats that at night, the brake lights drown out the indicators. Anyone else noticed?

Not just LEDs. Up until Friday, my mate had a 52 plate Seat Ibiza with just the normal lights. Whenever I followed him, I noticed how dim the indicator in the rear lights were.
The problem is the tail and brake lights are snazzy circular ones so when they're on, they almost block out the much smaller indicator in the same cluster.
As some may know, I was recently attacked and robbed, and thankfully am still here unlike so many others. I have been most appaulled by how the Police are not allowed to solve the crime, due to their hands being tied by the government. Even though the attackers were repeatedly using my mobile, the Police robbery team were not allowed to triangulate it's location, even though they told me they can do so easily and instantly with a call to the control room. they are only allowed to if there is a murder, potential suicide or they need to spy on a group who the government sees as a threat to their authority.
So, I have looked into this, and using a website
www.followus.co.uk
You can track your phone's location, and it really does work to with about 50-100m for me on T mobile.
So I have just bought a Nokia 1100 for £19 from amazon, and when it arrives, I will install it behind the boot trim on a bracket and wire a car charger directly to a permenant 12v (unused towing electrics feed). This will mean if my car gets stolen, it can be traced by me on the computer. The outlay is £19 (free if you have an old phone in a drawer) and £10-15 to register on the site (depending what options you choose)
You have to pair your phone with your account on the site via text message pin codes, so you can't really spy on other people if you were thinking of that, you can also use this for parcels, boats, anything large anyone could steal really. Read more
Well mine is all in and operational, the fix at my workplace is excellent, the building is in an inner city field/park, and the building appears on the map slap in the middle of the circle. At home (urban), it was the middle of a car park opposite and set quite far back from the road, probably 200-300 metres from centre of circle. This was with T Mobile, I then got a Vodaphone SIM after reading they were more accurate and found both to be way off ie, right on the edge of the circle.
What I have found is that the location it gives is the same from day to day, ie if I track the unit at home or work on the same network on different days, it always reads as being in the same spot as last time.

Phew. Not the end of the world then. Shows the sort of cars I've been running though, innit? :o)
I have a Fiat Punto S, 1999 (X reg). I have experienced difficulties with it as the car overheats minutes after igniting it in this cold chill. The radiator water level requires to be topped up almost everyday with at least half to one litre of water. As the water tank is transparent I noticed that the water is bubbling. The internal heater is not supplying warm/hot air, but only cold air constantly.
I need to get this problem diagnosed ASAP and need to be advised on what the causes could be as the cowboys are out there to rip me off.

How many dollars am I looking at?
Looking at the online brochure for the new Jetta, it seems that the petrol requirements for the petrol FSI engines (presumed to be the same as in my new Golf MKV) have been revised?
The Jetta brochure says that minimum 95RON petrol is all that is required and that Super unleaded is not necessary. Petrols should be ULS however.
I'm sure that in one of the earlier paper brochures availble when I bought my Golf at the latter end of 2004 stated that it was preferable to use Super unleaded to optimise both performance and economy.
I did however ask for a 'newer' brochure last year but failed to read the section devoted to engine variants and requirements. This afternoon I did rake it out and, too my surprise, saw that it is worded as per the Jetta's brochure. It would seem that I have been wasting a lot of money last year on using solely Super Unleaded grades especially as I have now, for the first, time filled up with 95RON and can't quite honestly notice an deterioration in engine performance or smoothness.

It is a EU legal requirement that engines must run on 95 RON and the "certified" engine performance(quoted BHP/torque) is done on this fuel.
I have 75% NCD , protected .The protection allows 2 claims in 5 years.
Some *** smashed my window last week and the damage to the door mechanism incurred means the matter is not covered by the glass cover.
So I have to weigh up, when the job is estimated, whether to claim. If I do I have £100 to pay.
But then I will have 1 "life" left in my protection.
My question is:
If you have 75% NCD and make one claim, and are not protected, is your NCD "zeroed" or do you drop to the next NCD level down- 60% of whatever it is? Read more
you dont say what vehicle? can i suggest that unless its something unusual you consider getting the glass and internal fittings needed (is it a cassette type windw winder mechanism) and getting a local independant garage to fit them if you dont feel competant,as in the longer run this may well turn out a cheaper option and you dont need to advise your insurer
I have an 03 Vectra 2.2 turbo diesel, which several times last year displayed a worrying problem.
Three times at low revs , but accelerating, in 5th ,the engine management system switched to emergency mode, which reduces revs. Put simply, you slow down, but without any external warning, eg brake lights coming on.
When this happened in lane 3 of the M6 , in heavy traffic, with my daughter on board, I was very fortunate to be able to cross the three lans safely and stop . When I started again it had cleared.
My local dealer had the car in December and I discovered that this was a known fault in the software, subject to a recall . As I had owned the car for a year, I was unhappy I hadn't been contacted, but at least relieved it was "fixed".
But it wasn't. Last week it happened again on the A1 in heavy traffic, rain and darkness.
I have now discovered that this "recall" was of the type where they don't contact the owner, but wait until the car comes in for service. With this car that can be a year.
So you can be driving around with this potentially disastrous fault for a year. And if you don't have it serviced at a Vauxhall dealer, even at the service it may not be fixed .
Indeed, in my case, the "fix" didn't even work.
If you have a similar car to mine, get it checked out! Read more
I've got an 03 2.0Dti i've had for 10 months and no problem like that, do you know if the 2.0 is affected?

Several years ago had an 'H' plate 9000 2.3 'full house' turbo, with, I think, about 200bhp.Fabulous car apart from electronic gremlins which even my main dealer could not cure. Walnut dash, aircon & sunroof and the most comfortable seats, dressed in Bridge of Weir leather, I have EVER sat on.Fantastic ooomph in a straight line, obviously not so good on the bends, but not that sort of car anyway, very spacious 5 door (almost as much room as the replacement E class estate)and in its element driving down to Bavaria. Shame about the mpg. I second the motion to buy it.
