Hi folks, noob here, looking for some advice, I'll try and keep it short
Bought a new car on the 29/12, collected it with 64 miles fuel range in it. Drove to the nearest petrol station and filled up with petrol. Drove home 110 miles, left it a few days before travelling on holiday did another 150 miles, with no performance issues and very good mpg numbers... when the engine failed, got towed back to my local dealer, and they have diagnosed a misfuel (diesel in petrol tank). I have a receipt to say I filled up with petrol, dealer is saying they did not put any fuel in and suggest i contact Hyundai UK.... Read more
We have some mould growing on a bathroom stippled artex celing. Ideally I'd prefer a non bleach method for removal. Does anyone have any tips/recommendations/experience on how best to remove said mould and any suggestions for paint to help prevent return? The window does have a ventilator slot that's left open all year round. Read more
Zinsser do a paint for this situation, Permawhite. It's an American brand, manufactured here (in Newton Aycliffe, I believe) under licence for the UK market. Easily found in a decent independent decorator's supply shop. Available in matte or satin finish and can be tinted if desired. Their stain blocking 123 primer is also very good.
Hi, wondered if anyone could help at all. Engine fault light has come on our car saying repair needed and now won't start. We have had a diagnostics report done which has come back with the following- error code p2244 mixture in the circuit imtegral circuit for linking in of sensor faulty.
Error code- p0003 fuel flow regulator... Read more
What year is it? Depending on age it may not have a cam chain.
Those faults are probably linked by loss of the 5V reference - which probably won't stop it starting (unless the cam sensor goes off, can't remember)....
My BMW x5 m50d with 34000 miles 2020 became faulty 2 weeks outside the 3 year manufacturing warranty expired. I didn’t return to the dealer i bought it from several months earlier but instead under the assumption it would be fixed under goodwill I went to a BMW franchise who removed the engine from the vehicle and diagnosed 1 high pressure Turbo had failed. Now for a really good bit, they couldn’t verify that the turbo hadn’t caused any damage to the engine so their solution is to replace the engine and all 4 turbos to the tune of almost £40k. But there’s no goodwill, now heres the thing after battling with bmw uk and the franchise, they now wont refit the engine and have requested i remove the car and the engine in pieces from the premises. And not surprisingly my dealer isnt willing to accept a car returned with the engine in a crate beside it. So the car remains at the franchise & any advice would be welcome?
The car has been serviced on time granted outside the bmw network but by a fully qualified bmw specialist with all services performed as per bmw specifications and each service updated to the bmw database using genuine parts. Surely a car of this prestige & price should be manufactured to the highest quality & covered by the manufacturer, is there an legal requirement from them? Read more
Did you get in touch with bmwuk directly?
Hello all,
I am new to the forums but I am after some advice. I have approximately 9k to spend on a car (I could stretch maybe to 11k, but no more than that). I currently have a 3.0tdi Quattro Audi A5 2007. I have loved the car but it’s getting on a bit and we are extending our family.
We will have two 10 year olds and a baby and we will be looking to travel in the new car if we go on any trips away (we are both teachers so we will try to make use of the holidays).
Essentially my number 1 priority is reliability, I’d say next would be efficiency and then comfort.
The other stuff would be a bonus (I.e. performance and gadgets).
I also was thinking maybe a 7 seater would be best best given the age of the girls and having a baby. I think whatever we buy would need to handle a car full and bike rack (possibly a roof box too).
The day to day of the car would be shortish trips. However, overall I would estimate 10-12k a year.
Any advice welcome. The a5 I going because my partner has a 2014 plate merc a180. Read more
Thanks buddy I will take a look.
I’m bothered about even having an alarm on it tbh
Just walked my dog past the ex Land Rover, ex Cazoo showroom here in Newport Pagnell. In the last month or so it has changed to a Fisker dealership and seems to have around 17 of their Ocean suv models for sale, not sure if they make any other models?
They are a good looking medium sized EV, although medium sized these days seems huge and there was no shortage of people looking around in there. Just googled and the price is £36K upwards, which again these days is seen as fairly reasonable. Anyone tried one?... Read more
They haven’t gone belly up just yet, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be too long. Existing technical and service support in the UK has been reduced to minimal levels. You can still buy a brand new Ocean, at massively reduced prices, on the understanding there may not be any warranty or support if things do go south.
I understand Fisker has massively reduced its workforce in the US, too.
Such a shame, as I loved the car when I test drove it and would definitely have had one on order had things not gone so wrong for them.
Hi all - I'm looking to buy a used petrol car that I can commute in but also 4 adults can comfortably travel long distances in. So plenty of rear leg room.
My budget is fairly limited £4000 - and I can't travel far to rest drive (live in St Leonards) so max 50 miles from here.... Read more
I had a 2004 CMax 1.8 petrol in Zetec trim for 10 years. It proved reliable and reasonably comfortable. Mine had the three part rear seats where the centre section could be folded up into the boot space (or removed completely), the outer seats then could be slid back diagonally giving a four seater with masses of rear legroom. Not sure if this feature was carried forward to the later models.
Our 2011 Meriva had this too, though if memory serves the centre section of the back rest folded forward then it and the base pushed down. Obviously boot space is boot space is reduced with the rear seats in this configuration, but still pretty decent....
As a car my wife likes the Freelander 2 which you can get for our budget of less than £4k and she really likes the high driving position but the mpg is poor for the 5k miles it will do each year
..so are they any cars you would recommend for a budget that have this high driving position... Read more
You will also need to be confident buying privately at this end of the market. Not everyone is or have the time.
Surprisingly most cars, in my experience of looking at this price point and below, are at used car dealers....
Howdo all,
The lease on my Tesla Model 3 comes to an end in November, so I guess it's time to start looking at replacements. ... Read more
I followed a new Tesla yesterday and the driver was either the biggest brain dead individual ever to get behind a wheel or they had no idea how to drive it.

Hi, I own a 2016 Lexus NX full service history so has another couple of years warranty cover. I’m now in my 70’s and thinking whether to keep the car beyond warranty or sell it and buy a 2 year old Toyota Yaris Cross that will have another 8 years warranty's. With the cheaper service plan, insurance and more miles per gallon it would save me £118 a month that would allow me to borrow the difference (with a little extra per month). This should protect me from any large bills I could face keeping the NX.
Any advice appreciated..... Read more
Hi, I had a drive of a Yaris Cross, it’s a nice drive and as already said it’s a cheap car to run, but after having my NX checked over and all looking good (??) I’ve decided to keep the NX hopefully with a few more years of trouble free motoring…Thanks….

Felt Hyundai should have offered you a bit more, for everything they put you through.
Good result though. Well done for your perseverance.
