With so many cars are now having options to drive autonomously on motorways, I wonder whether it will make sense to provide an indicator light (like brake light) to make following vehicle aware that it is being driven without active driver input.
When using adaptive cruise control in motorways, I have observed some following drivers get impatient when the car slowly speeds up - they can't wait and overtakes to fill the space between my car and the car I was following. Then my car slows down further to keep the gap - until next impatient driver fills the gap again.... Read more
The dual mass has been playing up, seems to be running ok at the moment but has made the usual noises of a bad one recently. The thing is I need to try and MOT it this week and cant get it into a garage for repair until a while after.
So the question is - will the high revs that are done for the emissions test risk disturbing the flywheel? Many thanks. Read more

Hi all, I have a 15 plate Peugeot 308sw 1.6 blue hdi. Been a good car, loved driving it, but it's done 110k miles now and thinking its time to look for something different.
Hoping people on here can recommend something reliable for around the 13k mark. Looked at Astra's and Kadjar's but not sure about reliability on them. Will be a family car (2 kids) with a reasonable boot. ... Read more

Hi all
I have my mot on Tuesday and it’s my first one as I only passed my driving test 6 months ago.
I have a seat belt in my rear side that still works but the housing has came apart,
I would like some advice on how to glue it for now or a temp fix to pass mot till I can source a new one
I didn’t know anything till I found it all out about different stuff the other day. Read more
The fact that you’ve been told different things, is an indicator of it being not a clear cut issue. It’s down to the mot tester as to how he interprets the regulations. If it’s unclear, then it has to be in the owners favour. So pass and advise.
The reason I've created this account is research towards my engineering degree, in short I've started a placement at an independent dealership in Warwick for a year (I then return to finish my final year of uni in automotive engineering)
Essentially I've been given a project whilst I'm at the car dealers to identify any everyday sales issues/problems independent dealership owners face, not from the customers perspective! It could be something as small such as dealing with rude customers, or a larger issue such as customers no-showing/missing scheduled appointments (Missing out on potential sales)
Any common sales issues you can provide would be great, the more the better! and I'll reply to all of them asap to try get a better understanding of them! Read more
I've seen main dealers close overnight, no guarantees there either.

Hello
Started noticing a little splutter at 1200 rpm on 2nd and 3rd gear right after the car was serviced (spark plugs were changed). Lately it is happening up to and just over 2000 also at 4th and 5th.... Read more
He claims is not uncommon for people to come back with a problem after the car is fixed or serviced
Only if the mechanic / garage is c*** and doesn't put things back properly or does a decent test drive....
Apologies if this has previously been covered but I would appreciate some guidance based on facts rather than opinion.
I gained a speeding ticket this year, first and only one in fifty years with a clean licence. I paid the £90 fee and attended a speed awareness course so no fine and no points. The car insurance is due and I have received the renewal notice and the renewal price is perfectly agreeable. MUST I inform the insurance company of my transgression or not ? If it makes any difference I am a named driver on the policy and not the actual policy holder which is my wife. We only have the one car which we share.... Read more
Just to note that you do need to review the questions on a renewal. Usually when you accept the renewal you get a page to review/check with your proposal details. If you have picked up another ticket you should put it on there. Technically I think you should advise them when you get it.
I was guilty at some point of just renewing without adding a speeding ticket I got 4 years ago.
We have two other cars and I had actually declared it on those (same insurer). The insurer picked this up and said I said I should add this on the third policy (actually my wife's car on which I am a named driver). When I added it, I had to pay about £20 extra.
I thought they would go back another 3 years, but they haven't demanded any more money - yet.
Hi all, i have had my Scala for 3 weeks now. I am wondering why there are so few around. I narrowed it down to a Scala or Astra. I thought the Scala was a different choice, as ive always had Vauxhalls. Anyone else own a Scala? What are your opinions of it? I know Skodas share many parts with the Volkswagen Group, some say the Scala has the same chassis as a Golf? If it lasts as well as my trusty 2010 Astra i will be more than happy. Read more
Sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but wanted to add my 2 cents of ownership of a Scala for a few weeks. We bought a brand new one (basically because the 0% PCP worked out quite nicely for where we were at). It was the 1.5 petrol SE-L as it was the only one in the dealership. Would have liked the 1.0L, and it would have been a better value deal, but hey ho, at least the car has plenty of poke. We are a family of five and we find that the space is brilliant. We can all comfortably go out together on day trips with plenty of space in the boot for gear. The kids in the back all report it is more comfortable and they have more useable space than our outgoing Qashqai. The engine has plenty of power and we are pushing an average of around 48mpg.
I recently bought a used Mazda 6 for the longer trips and UK holidays (as well as to be a general second car), but I'd say the Scala would cope with most of our family life. ...
