I’ve fitted loads of aftermarket cruise control systems to cars with conventional cable throttle systems. There’s no specific kit for your car , so a universal system would have to be used and tailored to work on your vehicle. Is it worth it ? Probably not for the amount of work involved.
Especially, as I've found recently, when some things go wrong on an older car, secondary issues mean that a big bill could ensue. I think it's best to keep the money set aside for such an eventuality or to put towards a replacement car, one which comes with cruise as standard.
Hello
I wondered if a new formed hose is still available for our classic Pug. I would rather find the right profile than bend a straight hose around onto the pump. Another old one will likely be as hard and leaky as I have presently. Would this be a common hose for all 306s ?... Read more
Have a look on this site.
having a problem with intermittent heater blower. done some research and it seems quite common. replaced rhetostat , ad hey presto worked for a few days. have now narrowed it down to dodgy wire in this loom, at this connection . somebody else had the same problem and fixed it by probing the black wire [ earth ] to the body and it fixed it. should i try that. the connector looks ok Read more
It could be the connector that attaches to the motor . Very poor design but still difficult access .
Hi I have a 2.0 HDI 306 and it has a few fault codes showing. I have had a search online but I dont really see much compared to the VAGS i am used where most results will return reliable information. Can anyone shed any light on the most likely causes?
The car does have the EML on the dash, feels a little sluggish and intermittingly shows the STOP! light on the dash. Idle doesn't seem smooth from cold. Clutch pedal is very heavy but doesnt seem to slip.... Read more
Are you able to check live data ? Specifically coolant temp and fuel rail pressure.
My youngest son (22) has been working as a barman at a local hotel for the last month or so. Obviously with a job like that, working hours can be hectic, especially at this time of year. But when I learned what he worked Saturday into Sunday, I was truly shocked and appalled.
(Bearing in mind he was working Friday 5pm to around 2am) He started on Saturday at 12pm working through to 4pm, then came home for a couple of hours. Back in at 6pm and worked though to (wait for it) 8.45am!. During this period he got no official break (snuck out for a puff on his vape a couple of times) and the only food received was a bacon roll at about 3am (back in to start work at 5pm Sunday BTW)... Horrible hours and inadequate breaks often go with that sort of work but that doesn’t make it right. However I doubt he can do anything that changes his current employer’s regime.
If he wants to stay in the industry meantime, pending being a student, he might have a better experience with one of the bigger chains? Although I am going back a few years, friends of my son’s worked for a High Street Pizza chain and they had breaks and got to keep the most part of their considerable tips. They were bigger than the wages.
Hi I went past a SPECS average speed camera today and wasn’t speeding but I noticed a post about 20 yards before it with 4 black boxes one on top of the other all at slightly different angles. The SPECS cameras didn’t have the IR unit next to it like the original ones did so wondered if these were IR flood lights or illuminators (as looked like the shape of a flood light) to improve image quality at night, or if they were additional cameras?
Thanks Read more
I've noticed these in places too. They seem to be LED lights and are presumably intended to illuminate car's plates so the SPECS sensor can read them.
Hello. I am new to UK and got my car 4 months ago and practicing with it. I have not driven for 25 years. I only used the motorway a few times and each time drivers on the motorway were very considerate to let me merge. I have a few questions (experienced drivers might find the silly) hope to get some advice.
1) Merging: If I match the speed (50-60mph) of motorway, what is the safe gap to merge to main traffic? ... Read more
I cant see the problem with lorries on a motorway, just use the third lane? When there are only two lanes, it is an inconvenience for less than a minute but chances are their journey is more important than ours as they ars against the clock.
On the A1 it's often for miles and miles...and I'm on the clock as well.
It sounds like the front OS wheel bearing is knackered. Whining, rumbling, worse when under load (left turns). But, when you jack it up and spin the wheel, as best you can when its also turning the driveshaft, it feels ok and there is no slop when trying to wobble the wheel at any angle.
So can it be the wheel bearing, or is there something I’m missing, before I get the hub off and attempt to press out the bearing. Read more
Mmm, jacked it up and went round each wheel. No problems found, everything felt tight and spun nicely. Only sloght issue seemed to be the front OS driveshaft seemed to have a bit of rotational slop, but then it is the long side.
Not clear from your description whether you still have an oil leak or not.
If not, fuggedaboudit. It probably became loose because your Black Hand loosened it....
