A hypothetical question (although this has happened to me in the past).

Occasionally while cycling, a small stone can be caught by the tyre and fly off sideways like a bullet. This is while riding normally not recklessly and with normal care and attention.... Read more

I’m sure these car buying firms are used to this situation and can deal with it accordingly.

It seems so, I give them the £80 retention/transfer fee and £500 deposit.

They do everything, and I drive my new car away that day,...

Hi guys

I have just purchased the above beast. Unfortunately, as with so many cars these days, the power outlet -cigarrette lighter-only becomes live with the ignition. Any ideas welcome.... Read more

This has pluses and minuses. My old car has a permanently-live cigar lighter, so no problem there - remove whatever is plugged in after use. If the ignition has to be on, removing the key automatically deadens whatever is plugged in. On the other hand you can remove the appliance and forget to remove the key, thereby flattening the battery overnight.

I know, I have done it :-(

Pretty much every new car launch review I read these days seems to make a big song and dance about how proud the manufacturer is to have no leather in the interior.

What on earth are we going to use all those cow hides for, if manufacturers are hell bent on not using leather? Read more

‘ I doubt that many modern cars have upholstery in cotton, wool or linen ? Drivers don't usually want their seats to biodegrade before the car goes to the crusher - as some probably would if exposed to heat, damp and sunlight for years.’

A growing number of mainstream manufacturers are producing interiors (seat facings and carpets) from recycled PET from plastic bottles. It’s processed to a yarn which is then woven.
For exterior panels, we’ll see hemp being used to cut the plastic content.

I bought this car from new one year ago and have had completely trouble free motoring until a few weeks ago. The windscreen wipers had worked perfectly but now when I turn the ignition off when it is raining they do not return to the rest/home/lay flat position. This happens in continuous or auto mode with them stopping where ever they are mid sweep when the ignition is turned off.

The Mazda dealership has checked out the problem and say there is nothing wrong and they are operating as any other car does. I have owned cars that did exactly this but not for the last 40 years or so. They were unable to answer why this problem did not exist during many months of use or why my previous Mazda never did this during the entire time I owned it.... Read more

Thanks everyone

It's not a real problem just an irritation. I honestly can't remember this happening on this or recent previous cars. Maybe I'm just mistaken....

Hi Guys

I’ve noticed my steering wheel isnt centred, it’s maybe off by 5 degrees of something nothing noticeably bad. However, I had the wheel and steering alignment checked and it was all straight, also had a mechanic look at the all the arms/ rods etc behind the wheels and they look fine.

1. Is this guaranteed to be a steering rack problem? If so, how expensive could this be to fix?

2. The steering is only slightly out, is it necessary to fix given what I’ve said above?

Thank you for any advice. Read more

Unfortunately I don’t know, I’m going to assume that it’s not always been like this I’m sure I would have noticed it sooner. I had my wheels aligned 2 ish months ago, so there’s a chance the mechanic didn’t centre it then and I only noticed it a few weeks after.
