Hi

Car was running fine and still sounds ok when idle.
You can drive it fine but seems to be missing every now and then.
I also have some strange air release noise from the back of the engine when it gets above 2500rpm.
it seems more of whooshing noise and then some black smoke from the exhaust and in the engine bay.
I’ve not had any engine lights yet:
Any ideas what it can be? Read more

Sounds very much like you have a split turbo pipe, possibly one that connects to the intercooler.

My mother had an acciident as a mamed driver on my car and was hit from the passenger side at about 3/4 of going forwards.

The other guy wanted her to pay for his damage, fairly strongly but the police ended up coming and made sure details were exchanged.... Read more

Absolutely, leave it to the insurance and block the guy. This happened to me once (disagreement on which lane to use at a roundabout) and we were perfectly civil with each other. I never even found out the other guy's name, much less his phone number, and it was all settled by insurers within a week.

I suspect the other driver has a problem with his insurance.

Why would the compressor work harder when changing gear and accelerating?

Weight shifting around? I don't know, I'm guessing. As I said, it needs to go to a garage that deals with commercials and they'll tell you what the problems are and what needs fixing. ...

I looked at a car today and the previous owner is Blue Chip Leasing. Does anyone know about them? The vehicle has done a fair few miles (60k) and has a tow bracket, which seems unusual for a 2WD. The dealer says they'll be motorway miles as Blue Chip lease cars to businesses.

Anything to be concerned about here?

It is missing a service or two. The vehicle is from 2020 and only had one service in 2021 and one a few weeks ago that the dealership did. Read more

Leasing out to businesses includes leasing to hire car firms (although that may not be a bad thing).

I fancy going supercar driving experience days. Since they are quite pricey, want to ensure I get most out of my money.

I want to choose cars which I can drive safely while still having fun. I don't want to be in a situation that I floored the throttle, then immediately spun and ended up in a ditch! I read that typical session lasts for 15 minutes only so not a huge amount of time.... Read more

Closest I've got was passing a parked unlocked Ferrari with the engine running and no one in sight, in Morningside, Edinburgh

Felt pretty close, but having passed up/chickened out on free DIY, the expensive chaperoned experience has very limited appeal.

Hi Everyone,

Me & the good lady are beside ourselves - we have lost the smart key for our car (ZS Exclusive 2023) and have contacted our local dealership to obtain a spare (nearly £500) We are really in the dark with this and feel there must be a cheaper solution, can anyone help?... Read more

Any recommendations where to buy a car from? Ive noticed Cazoo are cheaper than some as are Motorpoint.

Also, thoughts on a medium sized car, i was thinking Hyundai i30? Or go for an Astra which would be my 4th.... Read more

The car you buy from anywhere could be a lemon.

I think we are talking about chains, but even with a chain much can depend on the local manager, as well as other factors even as basic as the surroundings of the place.

Hi, had a new alternator fitted 18 months ago, clocked up 20,000 miles and bearings shot to bits so had to have it replaced. Contacted garage but fobbed off with basically tough as” passed the 12 months warranty”. Personally I believe it to contravene the consumer act 2015. Thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
