I have a 2010 vauxhall zafira 1.9 CDTi diesel with 94,000 on the clock and have owned it for ten years. The car has been very reliable and always starts first time, every time. But recently, I have had some issues with the car going into limp-mode when starting without any warning lights showingECU .... Read more

Agree with Gibbo about removing and cleaning the EGR valve, you'll be shocked just how full of carbon they can get, depending on what you see with that out the inlet maifold may need cleaning out too.

Once that is done see if things improve....

Hi, my daughter’s golf starts up ok but is rough running until it warms up a bit then it’s fine. Just wondering what this can be. Glow plugs seem ok. Thanks for any help. Sparky 100 Read more

Glow plugs only used for cold start when ambient temperature below 5 degrees C . From your description, it’s very likely to be injectors in trouble. Not uncommon on this engine.

Alarm keeps going off, even when I lock the car via the drivers door, not using the fob. I have been told that the alarm system runs off it own battery. If this is so I would appreciate any advice as to how I can disconnect without having to pull fuses, which could possibly cause more problems. Thanks in advance. Drifter Read more

Tried to check the oil level on my neighbour’s Aygo and it appeared to be stuck. She was going on a long journey so didn’t dare to yank it in case it snapped off. Any ideas please? Do you have to twist it/turn it on this model or something? It’s about three years old. Read more

If a car bottomed out, what parts would be damaged other than say the suspension links, would the shocks go as well? (Near side or off side). Read more

8s this about driving a car down a hole in the road in Essex? If so, it's quite hard to imagine why a shock absorber on the offside would be damaged by the nearside wheel going down a hole. I suppose the ARB could send a bit of force that way, but it's unlikely that the offside of the car would hit the ground before the sump did.
