Can I purchase wheel and kit for above vehicle Read more
Its a shame that Toyota UK just don't allow buyers to factory order a space saver wheel kit as an optional extra when they order the car.
Most likely due to extra weight & emissions testing. ...
I put a reservation down for a Hyundai i20 ex demonstrator through Evan Halshaw. I had to pay £349 delivery for the car to brought up to my local EH plus £99 deposit. I said to the salesman I want to test drive it before buying (The branch in England said I'd have to buy from them before delivery which put me off)
The salesman said they can deliver the car but if I didn't take it then I'd be charged the delivery fee although I'd get my deposit back. ... Read more
I think this is the case
We're in the USA for our annual stay with a son. Always interesting to see the year on year evolution of traffic on the leafy bicycle and pedestrian friendly avenues of Irvine CA - main racial groups approx 44% asian, 44% white, 10% 'hispanic' - (apparently a debatable concept). It's a clean well groomed garden city built mainly in the 70s and 80s, a bit like Milton Keynes but with hardly any buses, wide roads, huge crossroads instead of roundabouts, and hardly a sc*** of litter to be seen, even near the schools! (lots of kids attend on bikes, some are electric).
100yrs ago Ford made around half the cars on American roads but I hardly see any here now. So at mid-day, on a ten minute walk along Paseo Westpark to the supermarket (a fairly busy suburban main road) I did a car count, noting Fords and Teslas. Total 74 cars including 4 Teslas.....and just one Ford - an old Focus with a loud exhaust! On the return journey; 81 cars, 5 Teslas.....and another Focus! Two small Fords in over 150 cars of other makes, mainly asian. Ole Henry must be spinning his bearings in his cemetery! Read more
I get the impression that in China as a largely "command" economy, if the project fits with the political plan any barriers are simply removed by decree.
Looks as though Ford are in bed with Changan (with the Chinese in control) building EVs in a vast city many times bigger than New York or London (Chongquing) which I doubt many in the 'west' will have heard of. ...
I’m close to buying a very low mileage car. Less than a thousand miles per year and warranted. It looks like you would expect but it’s not particularly cheap. I just wondered what you would look out for? MOT history is consistent with the mileage with only one minor advisory over seven years. Read more
Very intriguing, know a bloke with a very old mx5 that gets little attention at all except mots. He's had it years and it just goes and goes... Goes against against any sane car ownership routine, never had an oil change and does mostly short trips.
I'm planning to spend no more than £10k to buy a car, a car that should last me 10 years, just like my current Ford Fiesta mk7.
Reliability obviously is a key factor, as well as economy. Comfort is great, but lower priority, good driving experience, well... I'm not sure if it'll get any worse than my brilliant fiesta mk7.... Read more
Shouldnt that have been s c r a p p e d rather than s c r a p ed? (Though I suppose girls will be girls cosmetics-wise)
I am after advice on my gearbox. My car is a 2014 Kia Picanto.
Last week as I was driving and my clutch went. I looked down and saw some sort of clip had come off. ... Read more
Yes, take.it back to whoever did the work and ask them to adjust the clutch.
With news that the new mini will only be available in auto format does this herald the end of the road for the manual gearbox ?
A latecomer to auto driving, I’ve taken to it 100% maybe down to having one coupled to a V6 diesel engine which gives effortless performance. Read more
Different to HGV then BBD.
If you pass your car test in a manual and take your HGV test in an auto it entittles you to drive manual HGVs....
I am replying to a question from Mr Richard Sylvester on the 7th of September in which he asked about the manufacturer recall due to cambelt failures.
My car had to have the cambelt and many associated parts replaced under the Citroen manufacturer under warranty. I will say that they had to rebuild a lot of the engine and replace many of the internal parts to make sure the cambelt particles which had started to disintegrate were flushed out. This work cost them £2000 in parts and about £1200 in labour. Unless all of that work is done properly I would not advise buying one without that documented history. I should say also that the later models were not recalled but I don't know what the cut off chassis numbers are. Read more
I wouldn't be encouraging anyone to buy a 1.2 Purec*** powered vehicle.
Even with the multiple belt revisions ( generation 4 belt was last I heard a couple of years back ) I'm sure more new headaches for owners will manifest in the near future. ...
Mazda diesels are infamous for problems with the diesel emissions systems leading to on some occasions huge repair costs.
Even Toyota have had problems with their Yaris diesels so what chance does any other manufacturer stand?... Read more

Didn't think of that, though I should have. Perhaps I didn't because I've only ever had cars that would require you to cut the filter open to examine its contents, but maybe this one has a removable filter element. A relatively straightforward post-incident check.
TBH it sounds rather bad, though of course I havn't seen it....
