It seems Suzuki now offer a 7 year warranty

Usual 3 year/60k as per most of the others

But

If you service it at Suzuki dealership, they will extend it wach year to 7 years/100k similar to the Toyota scheme Read more

They'll probably be gone soon in Europe, priced out due to all the extra 'safety' and 'emissions' features required by law that barely make a difference in the real world. The only small hatches that will be left to buy will be expensive 'premium' EVs.

I'm not convinced....

Finished my research on buying and running an EV as an OAP.

Conclusions: totally unaffordable due to Insurance costs.... Read more

No offence, but the only relevant information there really is the quotes between the Jazz and the Zoe. Check quotes for other high performance £40-£50k cars and you’ll find little change from your Tesla quote I imagine. I found our Leaf no different to our previous and similarly sized Honda HRV to insure but the £159 more to insure the Zoe is wiped out by the first months fuel or the annual road tax. Assuming a used purchase at similar money I’d take the more powerful, nicer to drive and cheaper to run Zoe despite the small difference in insurance. But from our own limited experience EV’s we’ve not found any noticeable difference in insurance cost.

""Ulez-compliant second-hand cars are £3,000 more expensive (msn.com)

I do not know how this is affecting the rest of the UK market but if stocks are being dragged down to London then it must have a bearing. I suppose that equally the non compliant cars could be heading out. ULEZ has got the go ahead, I am happy that I live nowhere near the place. Read more

Only a fool would think that all commercial vehicles ( artic trucks especially ) will eventually do away with using fossil fuels.

Seeing as non fosil fueled commercial vehicles already exist - and over time will get better why would you think that? ...

France has had the guts to crack down on SUV drivers. Why doesn’t Britain? (msn.com)

A very good article from the sheer size of some of these to the extra resources used to build them and the extra weight and emissions they generate. Safe as houses for the driver but less so for the cars or pedestrians they might hit. Well with all the concerns about climate and its implications do we ban SUVs or load their taxes even more. Or is it basically another case of rich and poor ie what you can afford and carry on regardless?. Read more

Instead of banning particular models, they just need to impose a limit on the power output of the ice drive train. A 50 hp limit should do the trick (and keep those nasty German cars out).

Along with pretty much everything else currently for sale in the UK!...

<< No I am not aware would you care to elaborate this gravity defying Oil? I can well understand that it may be a bit more ""sticky"" >>

Sammy, if you consider that a serious amount of oil will have drained off the cylinder walls in a couple of minutes, you should be worried about starting your car after it has stood overnight ?

JD power reports that "people prefer interacting with the apps on their phone than whatever cockamamie b******* was cooked up by the company that made their car." We already knew that but it is nice to see it acknowledged where the car manufacturers might notice.

<< That's just the point Andrew, people are like Magpies, they just want the latest "shiny thing", doesn't matter whether or not they need it, will use it or know what it is for. If the manufacturer is offering it, they want it. And when it comes to touchscreens, bigger is always better!. >>

I think there are quite a few who would be happy to do without several gizmos which come with the car they buy - but of course deleting them is not a cost-effective option ....

If all goes well for Mr Khan then next month the ULEZ will cover a huge chunk of London. Apparently some residents are vandalising the new cameras out of desparation as reasonable arguments are ignored and Khan knows best of course. Some folks will suddenly have to fork out £12.50 I believe every journey except December 25th. I guess other cities will be watching how it goes before launching their own schemes, Drivers have paid their dues to use Britain’s roads and I would love someone who knows to explain the legal ramifications.

Yes it is. All politicians spin, hyperbolize, and lie by omission (aka only make one side of the argument). But no UK government had lied or for that matter been corrupt as comprehensively as the current one in my lifetime and probably my parents' and grandparents'....

I'm surprised they haven't set this as a 20 mph road (with the usual cameras to terrorise those who dare look at the road and away from their speedometers). There is a new tunnel being built, both will attract charges as soon as they can possibly do so.

For a while now have been having this intermittent problem of the o/s front brake binding. Seems no rhyme nor reason for it and doesn't seem to need the brakes being used for it to start happening. I say this because the other morning I could feel it starting to drag about 7 miles away from home, during which (through a combination of observation, care and luck!) I hadn't touched the brake pedal. Been to the garage a couple of times to try and get it fixed without any success. Mechanic now reckons something to do with ABS but I am starting to lose confidence with him.

Any thoughts? Read more

edlithgow

Of course I have no experience of ABS, and don't much want any, but apparently they are extremely sensitive to the precise positioning of the magnetic speed sensor, and can start misbehaving with a very small amount of rust-jacking.

Relatively simply addressed here...
