Not sure where this should go, either here or in car buying. Are there people out there that will sell a car for you with say a commission. Long story but my wife does not need the stress at the moment so wondered if someone does that sort of thing. We are in Cheshire. The car is a 2012 BMW X1 20d 2.0 xdrive ,78k miles.

The winning dealer (Carbase) from CarWow sent someone to collect the car.

The guy came by train. Then checked my car and documents. Called head office that all looks good. Then money arrived on bank while he waited....

I could really do with some advice. I purchased a 2008 xc90 d5 auto 110000 on the clock about 5 months ago. All been fine. Last month on a journey it started randomly stalling, before dying on me. Would then crank but not fire no matter what. Rac towed to my usual garage. When they got around to looking at it 2 days later, it started and drove without issue. We changed fuel filter and did leak off test at my request. All OK.

Fast forward a month.... ... Read more

If you’re not able to check the fuel rail pressure under cranking, you’re not going to get much further with any diagnostic.

Hi, My Daughter managed to have a fender bender with her car. The n/s front wing is damaged at the front but can be fairly easily fixed. The headlight lens has a chunk missing from it by the indicator. so the question is...can the lens on its own be replaced. I have seen a number of headlights for sale on fleabay and it looks like the lens clips off. anyone have any clues as to if this is possible? if it is can someone tell me where I can buy one rather than a small fortune for a new headlight.

Buy a full headlight replacement on eBay or scrapyard as easy to fit. Keep the old one and if the replacement ever fails you have the free old one and can use the lens off your eBay replacement! then!

I've just purchased a 2020 Ford Grand Torneo Connect (passenger version of the Transit Connect). It's got one of these ridiculous keyless ignotions because car companies appear to think turning a key is so 20th century. There have been a lot of car thefts in our neighbourhood although I think they have been premium cars rather than anything as utilitarian as a Ford mini van. My wife is paranoid that it's going to be nicked from our driveway. I suspect thieves are only going to be targeting expensive cars and a bright red van is not going to be at significant risk.

From what I've read, the main risk is the use of relay devices to access the car where there is a proximity/touch entry system. My Ford still needs you to click the unlock button and I believe that isn't something that can be cloned. I've tested it out and it won't start without the fob inside the car. ... Read more

<< The old way was like that as there was nothing worth nicking. >>

You should read early Victorian accounts of things poor people were transported to Australia for nicking. These days no-one would bother to pick those things off the floor.

Just got an email from Heathrow that for the upcoming ULEZ charges for entering Heathrow you'll be charged an additional £12.50.

What the email doesn't state is how does that affect Long Stay parking when out of the country?... Read more

Just when you enter and leave.

Or if it is meet and greet parking, when you enter and leave and whenever the parking company use it as a Uber/Lieferando etc.

Got a Corsa auto as a courtesy car,1.2 petrol I think. Pretty impressed, Eager performance, good handling, clear dash, brakes need gentle application otherwise it really bites. Useful boot space, this small car is a vast improvement on the ones I had in the past. Read more

Presumably it’s got the 1.2 3 cylinder pure tech engine. Wonder if the wet cambelt issue has been sorted ?

I would not have expected him to be there either, I always think it is funny and tragic that cyclists ignore the very basic rule of safety on the road, and when they do a stupid thing it is the driver that is by some always deemd to be not "clued up" ?
