We hired a car to go on holiday , did 50 miles before doing all the normal going on long run checks ie oil water tyres etc , water was low so filled it did 350 mile and it was empty, filled and did 300 and empty again so called company, aa came said water pump, they took it away and now say we owe them £250 excess for stone damage to radiator . I requested photos of radiator damage but I can't see any impact damage on radiator just flies n wear & tear rust etc. Do I pay up ? Or is there anything I can reasonably do to sort this as I don't believe we caused any damage. Thankyou Read more
Hi I currently have a bmw 1 series diesel 2016, it has been great, low tax, low on fuel and had no issues with it at all, so am I really sad to be having to look for something else but I really need a 3 isofix or 3 full adult seats at the back.
Now I am looking at a Citreon picasso 2017, how fuel efficient are these and are they solidly built? I really don't want to get a car that will need a lot of work on it to maintain.
Or is there any better 3 isofix cars or 3 adult seats out there? I ideally would of prefered sticking with BMW, Audi or Seat but not sure if any of these have 3 adult seats? Read more
China is producing many thousands of EVs but not selling them. The makers keep producing them to keep receiving subsidies but there are not enough buyers, so they park them up.

China is making a fair few Teslas for world markets. I don't think these are hanging around. Remember when Made in Britain was something to be proud of. We should have no trouble reaching zero carbon when the rest of the car industry decides to leave.
Have you a 'Made in Britain' car?...

I must be getting old, I just found it very obvious and rather tiresome. Repeatedly over four hours on Wed..no Kia' or Ford's. Only German....must be a ownership requirement.
I have owned the Grande Punto 1.3 multijet 75bhp 2006, average not great of 54mpg out of real 63mpg I did not know that the fifth gear was a bit short for a diesel vehicle. Because at 70mph the rev meet at 2,900rpm is a quite high for diesel, I know that average diesel meets at 2,400 rpm. The 90bhp Grande Punto offer a sixth gear. I had few issue with water pump, I think it is the third time it fails, two drive belt snap. Does something to do with high rev for a long time wear it quickly?
Since been looking for a small van for my work. I saw a Fiorino 90bhp out of 1.3, but still have the fifth gear!... Read more
The trouble is, in the Jimny your ears give up long before you can reach 6000rpm, not to mention my inbuilt mechanical sympathy lol.
Hello!
Would very much appreciate some advice. I put a deposit down on a second hand car at what seems to be a reputable dealer. The car isn't suspiciously cheap or anything of the sort, but when they had done an MOT on it this week the mileage went down! So the history is now something like... Read more
Could it have been (pre-) registered in Ireland (or even Cyprus or Malta) and for some reason shifted to the UK before finding a first private buyer? Just a thought.
I wondered that too though I'd have expected the speedo, unless a digital jobbie, to have a primary display in Km and secondary miles in that case.
The yellow coil light starts flashing shortly after starting the engine, so I guess the plugs need some attention. Thing is it's a cheap car (and I'm a cheapskate!), so I was wondering if I could get away with just living with it? Read more

I get a loud electrical buzzer noise emanating from the gear lever area from Drive to Park.Sometimes it lasts for a few seconds but today it started and I had to turn the ignition off to stop it.Sounds like some sort of warning buzzer. The car does not have parking sensors Read more
I would think it’s related to the park interlock circuit, whereby you can’t shift the lever out of park unless you have your foot on the brake .
