Last week I was a bit confused about the set up on St John's road in Clapham Junction. I saw the no motor vehicles sign on the left so I figured I was fine to turn right, which I did. And then followed the road down until I turned left at the junction some 10m ahead. I only realised after that I should not have continued down that road! I'm panicking now, what's the penalty here??
The no motor vehicles sign had the red outer circle and white interior with the black and motorbike symbol. Read more
Just came upon this scary YT clip of a Merc being launched off a roundabout in Belgium, flying through the air and going straight through the wall of a sports centre, Fortunately no serious injuries*, but I was not entirely surprised to learn from the comments that it was being driven by a professional football player. Another comment was from someone who did some rough calculations and reckoned the car must have been doing around 220kmh (137mph) when it left the ground. ... Read more
Was it an accident? Or the entirely foreseeable result of driving like a fool at 137mph in an inappropriate manner. Ie over a roundabout.
Maybe you coudl see it a foreseeable accident?...
Does anyone know why the mk3 mondeo tdci 2.0 lx does not have a mass airflow sensor the position they normally go is just blanked and part of the plastic cover not done purposely anyone have any knowledge of this . Read more
It should definitely have a mass air flow sensor. It's job is to tell the ECM the amount of air in grams per second (g/s) or milligrams per stroke (mg/str) the engine is drawing through the air intake. This figure is the total weight of the air.
If someone has deliberately removed the MAF for whatever reason then the ECM will not be able to determine air flow and will assume a fixed value instead. The engine management lamp may be on and a fault code relating to Mass Air Flow and Intake Air Temperature may also be present unless the ECM software has been adapted to ignore these input values.
I was just about to transfer the balance of payment for purchase of second hand Honda Jazz when I noticed the following comment at the bottom of the front page of the Vehicle Order Form - 'The odometer reading is currently being investigated. The accuracy of the odometer reading therefore cannot be relied upon and should be ignored'
What is the legal situation here? I don't see why I'm supposed to take delivery of a car when such a key piece of information is stated as being unreliable? Had the disclaimer been placed next to the mileage figure in the Vehicle Information section I would not have signed the form. At the very least does this fall under some kind of deceptive business practice code of conduct? No mention was made of it to me verbally either.... Read more
Interesting question. My family have bought maybe 12 cars from other branches of this franchise and don't recall seeing this before or having any kind of issue. They were all much newer Kias though and the branches they bought from were Kia main agents so I'm assuming they had history with the trade ins.
Just phoned the sales agent. When I mentioned the order form saying the odometer was being investigated he claimed not to know anything about it - so that's very ...odd. He's worked there for years from what I can tell so they can't now claim its a standard disclaimer can they?...
Hi all
My son has got a Panda 1.1 and driving back from an outing today we got the engine management light up. We read the codes and it said P0130 01/01. The manual for the reader says that's O2 sensor bank1. I take that to mean the first O2 sensor on the exhaust pipe? The connector seems to be covered in oily carp so I think a general clean up before doing anything more. Read more
Booked into the garage now. The connector is in such an awkward place and my arthritic fingers are no go for fiddly places.
Can anyone help me with this problem on my 2000 Mazda B2500 please. Got in it the other morning battery was too flat to turn the engine to start it. Charged the battery up and got it running but the battery light was on all the time. Put a meter on the battery with engine runnning and it stayed at about 11.9 volts even when I revved it up hard. Alternator gone, yes?
Fitted a new alternator, started her up, battery light no longer on, happy days! Used the truck ok, but a few days later, went to start her up in the morning and the battery was flat again. Charged the battery, started the engine, put the meter on the battery and got a steady voltage no matter what the rpm.New alternator not charging. I've checked every fuse I can find and there all all good. The battery is only a few months old and is a decent Yuasa brand.
Any ideas on what to do next anyone? Read more
Seeing as the warning lamp goes out as it should and the tacho works ok, would your gut feeling be that I've bought a dud alternator?
I would definitely check the main alternator cable to battery positive. Some go directly to the battery, and some go via the starter motor. A bad connection there could be your problem. A volt drop test will confirm that or otherwise. Alternatively temporarily connect a heavy duty jump lead from the alternator positive to battery positive and see if that cures your problem. If it does you have a voltage supply fault. If it makes no difference then you probably have a duff alternator. ...
Something for everyone in this lot. What would you pick?
Anyone thinking of actually buying, I once sold a car through these people and they were hopeless so probably some bargains to be had!... Read more
I’d love an 80’s/90’s hot or mild hatch. A nice Metro GTi, Nova SR, Pug 205 XS/GTi, 306 XSi/GTi-6, Charade GTti, R19 16v, XR2i or XR3i would be jolly if any kindly cash rich individual would like to buy me a nice example. I’ve an unhealthy fondness for a black Volvo 480ES also, even though it was never actually that great under that stylish body. Small sports saloons like the Orion Ghia injection, Rover 416 GTi and Volvo 440 GLT (a hatch, I know) would look good in my garage also and give me an excuse to keep clear of swmbo without resorting to the gym all the time.
I want to keep my car cool in the sun for driving with animals on board during the summer (the air con doesn't work and winding the windows isn't always enough) I have some reflective one way window film left over from a project (not marketed for car use) and wondered if it would be safe to apply this inside the rear window to reflect the sun? I think it's legal, from what I've read, for the back window at least, but I'm concerned about it dazzling other drivers.
Many thanks for any help Read more
Might be worth considering a slatted blind.
You used to see plastic (or glassfibre?) slatted mouldings on the outside of the sloping hatch windows of Ford Capri's, all very 70's stylee....
Brake fluid underneath car on road. No clutch at all.
Anyone know how much it would cost roughly to purchase necessary parts and change clutch Also, how long is it likely to take to complete the job.... Read more
You could do much worse than use Mr Clutch if you have a branch near you. My son took his Golf there to have the clutch replaced. They did a good job at a very reasonable price.
Just wondering if anybody knows the DSG model fitted to this car. It is the 7 speed. Car is 2019 4Drive Excellence Lux.
Many thanks! Read more
