I’m currently looking for a 7 seater car and I’ve seen quite a few Japanese import which fit the bill but I’m just wondering if I would have problems in the future when trying to maintain or repair an imported car. Does anyone have experience of owning one and have they been able to source Servicing and repairs from just normal local garages?? Read more

A friend of a friend had a JDM Subaru a good few years back.

Mechanical bits were, in the main, common to UK models - the problem came when the car needs other parts such as body panels, plastic bits such as lamps, plastic covers etc etc. He had the car for 3/4 years. ...

Whatever we do , it has to be affordable for the average working man. No point in worrying about climate change if you cant afford to get to work to earn and keep a roof over your head and feed your family. EVs are unaffordable for most.

Car and tyre manufacturers need to simplify the tyre specs/sizes needed to save on costs and to pass that on to the consumer, especially at the moment.

Whilst it would be nice for them to do so I don't see why they need to do it? They are there to sell tyres and make money - I can't see them doing that without prodding from the government.

In the last two years I have bought / leased 3 cars. The lease car via work was done completely on my iPad and was a far more pleasant experience than visiting a dealer. I never saw the car (brand new) until it was delivered and have had no regrets.

The second car was purchased from a main dealer but being in the height of covid was done entirely online and the first time we saw the car was on collection day. Saying no to gap etc was much easier on the phone/ via email where the hard sale is more difficult....

My partner is on my insurance as the named driver, both of us never claimed in 25+ years . He was driving my old polo and a Polish lorry drove into the rear door, owing to the language barrier insurance having difficulty proving liability though at roadside lorry driver did say he didn't see him (Lh drive).

As it needed a new door it was stated a write off but we since just bought a new door and had it fitted as they were dragging their feet. We wanted to keep this car as I'd had it from almost new it's been fully serviced well looked after only 58k Miles. Door replacement purely cosmetic we were fortunate enough to find one exactly the same colour.... Read more

In the early '80s Reliant commissioned Bertone to come up with a concept for a new Scimitar (remember, by that time the SE5 shape had already been around since 1968). The concept got as far as a full-size mock-up but Reliant canned the project because they didn't have the cash to fully develop the car.

I have stopped using my Ford Focus that has an intermittent fault and have bought a newer car which I have taxed and transferred my insurance to.

The old Focus is on my drive and I would not want to sell it to anyone with an intermitted fault, the bodywork does have some small dents and scratches as I used it for work and putting ladder on etc. It is almost 19 years old so I was thinking I should scrap it and claim back the 6 months road tax on it.... Hi, Get some quotes by looking for scrap car companies on google.

Try to choose a scrap car company that's close to you as they will deduct their travel costs when offering you a price. Make sure the scrap car dealer is associated with an authorised treatment facility as they are the only places that can scrap your car legally. Only accept a bank transfer for your car as this is the only legal way to get paid. Make sure you get a certificate of destruction as this proves your car has been scrapped. I scrapped my wives car with a dodgy dealer and it came back to bite me and got fined by the dvla as they didnt scrap it but did a cut and shunt and racked up massive fines. I then used a company called [deleted] to scrap my car and it went very well ...
